I've got some nice photos on my web page, but the pictures take too long to load on a dial-up connection.

I need to know how to reduce the size of the files so they will load faster in the browser.

Appreciate any tips.

Thnx.

Here are some free programs you could use ..

I use Photoshop, but used to use Ulead SmartSaver Pro before I had the luxuries of PS.

Thanks, Thunder.

As a matter of fact, I have a copy of Photoshop, but I'm such a newbie to graphics file I don't know what I need to do with it.

What's the techincal concept or terminologies to get me started?

There's a good little FREE program - HERE (http://www.ornj.net/software/webalbum/index.html) that will create an album for you, complete with thumbnails, and it will re-size your work for you too :).

It generates all you need, ready to upload to your site.

If you want to decrease the sizes manually, save them as jpg images compressed to around 30%, you'll not lose much detail, and they will be fine for downloading/viewing, even on a 56k modem.

Many thanks to all who replied. I've got a handle on it now, with all of the tips above--I'm on my way!

if you really wanna go small get it as small as you can in imageready while still keeping 100% quality then take it the Ulead Smartsaver Pro and it will get it even smaller. works great
