View Full Version : Help for a Newbie
My website is www.kinstonshowcase.com. I use Frontpage 2000 with extensions installed. I had SSL activated this past weekend. We would like to have a secure page to register for tournaments online. I upload using frontpages built in feature. My question is: how do I set up the secure page and upload to my website. Do I need to have extensions uninstalled.(Do not need frontpages counter, hover buttons, etc.)
I also have WS-FTP Pro installed on my computer. Please help! Need this page asap.
Thanks

From all that I have read, you shouldn't use FTP to upload anything to a FrontPage web site. Only use FrontPage's "Publish" feature.
I have used FrontPage for the past five years creating and maintaining eleven web sites. However, I've not used the functions that you desire.

Normally, you would only pay for and use SSL, if you're sending "sensitive data", ie: cc info, names , everything associated with a financial transaction...
For just registering " unless it incurs some kind of payment", you could just setup some Forms, for them to register with...
As for FP, ans SSL, maybe you should see SIMCOWEB... he does a lot of stuff with FP...http://simcoweb.com , suprised he hasn't responded yet....
As for FTP in with FP... that's kind of a sore issue here... I can just tell you.... MS.... Documentation will tell you to only use the publish feature....
I've heard. and experienced FTP horrors... using FP 98, many many many moons ago.... ONce I started using the "Publish button exclusively", I quit having problems...
