View Full Version : Outlook Express won't receive my email!

When I initially set up the account I only had the default email and I could receive email in my Outlook Express. Now that I have set up popmail accounts, I cannot get Outlook to accept the username assigned, i.e., 9999.mail, or whatever. It keeps telling me that these are invalid and wants my master account name, which, of course, does not retrieve my email!

What do I do? This is getting incredibly frustrating!

Click here for the FAQ (http://powweb.com/support/mail/outlookexpress5.html) on setting up Outlook Express.

Better yet, run (don't walk) to Qualcomm (http://www.eudora.com/email/index.html) and download Eudora. You can easily set up a Personality to handle each of your incoming mail accounts.

Outlook Express is the world's best way to get infected with the latest Win32 virus. Eudora is the world's best e-mail client!

This Post above, Is Not Right OR Accurate.......

I Don't use EUDORKA, and Apparently the Original poster Doesn't EITHER!!!

My E-MAIL is scanned before it even enters my computer by my NORTON, on both Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express. WHICH will catch the Win32 virus!!!

I guess you are not aware of Anti-virus software, EVEN the TOTALLY FREE download of Innoculan, will protect against Win 32 virus.......

A VIRUS is A VIRUS no matter what e-mail program you use, there are over 60,000 viruses out there.... ALL E-MAIL PROGRAMS ARE VULNERABLE!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!! Well, unless it's on a Friend's computer! :)
"Got that Trojan Horse or JS.exploit virus....but, I'm Happy.....I didn't get that Win32 Virus!!!!"
Whether it is a Win32 Virus or the 59,999+ other viruses....WHO CARES! Your system WILL go down, nomatter what it's called!

My UNDERSTANDING of this Forum was to help people with what they have and through each other's experiences, we ALL learn from each other by asking questions and participating. And PowWeb learns what they need to invest in, upgrade or tweak, by listening to us.

AND it is pretty Obvious he went to FAQ, or it wouldn't already be set up to 9999.xxxx, and the FAQ isn't exactly right. SIR!

If you are running Norton, your user name is: 9999.xxxx/mail.yoursite.com

To Repond to your Question, thefinalwalt:

I had this same problem, I'm running on jupiter server, don't know if that makes a dif.
Had problem with one name, the other 2 worked fine....
Try 2 more names and use New Identity in "File" and see if one of those take. (Switch Identity after that to who you want!)

Shortly after that, I back-stepped from IE6.0 to 5.5 because I thought my surfing had slowed because of 6.0, ended up being my ISP, so went back to 6.0, DON'T EVER DO THIS!!!!! Some files went goofy, re-install and repair wouldn't work, even went to DOS scanreg/restore, restored backup of days before, still corrupt files....some 5.5 and some 6.0

Copied files to CD-RW, (no Microsoft programs) reformated twice, to make sure drive was clean, everything installed and re-downloaded IE6.0, clean system, still couldn't get into that one, can online, but not Outlook Express.... other 2 was fine.

NOTE: Since you have 50 boxes, BE sure to set up a SPAM box for ANY postings to search engines......that alone will net you 500-800 e-mails a month, easily!!!

If you still have problems, reply to this message, I will send up instructions for each tab in Outlook 6, that I have on mine.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That, fcsnc, is how you help people!
A direct reply to the question, what happened to me, what I did, and will post everything on each tab of set-up if he/she needs it, not send them off running to another program without instruction.
Maybe this person did run off and get Eudora and it worked beautifully, but, WORKING, is not computing, it's the SISSY WAY out! (NOTHING IS LEARNED......)
Computing is figuring out WHY? So other's don't hit that same wall.....over and over and over, etc.... Should we dodge the issue and go to something else.....which adds to the problem, by more people with same problem hitting the wall.
You have 2 choices....be part of the problem....OR....be part of the solution!
If it wasn't for Bill Gates.....Boneheads like me would still be typing DOS and basically notepad for a webpage! XP format is the future, but is 2 years ahead of the internet......
What was I thinking? I'm so ashamed.
The answer was so perfectly clear.
I'm sorry. Know what I mean, Vern?
