A very simple one this time.

Here's your user list:

One circle or sphere

One square or rectangle

One triangle or pyramid

One torus/ring

A few straight lines

That's it, just 5 basic shapes.

Will you go for 2D or 3D?

Drab or bright?

Have fun..........

:)

Damn, you just made my hunt out my old 3D rendering package.......

Neat effects, blurchy.

Here's mine (http://www.bad-hair-day.com/grfx/shapes.jpg).

Looks like the Photoshop gurus are struggling with this one, apart from JGross, who seems to have used a hundred circles to create the 'golf ball' :)

Blurchy I'm trying to figure out seriously how you did that..Thats not PS is it?

no terrell its truespace 2
its a freeware program if u look on those pc mags
that give away programs u might see it theyve
given it away lots of times

the scene is set inside a cube with a camera in it
the reason it reflects the background is because
the ray tracing is switched on. this reflects the image
from different angles the blurchy bit is behind the camera
so u only see the reflections of it

ray tracings cool but the hardest bit is finding
or making a ray trace material

u have to fiddle about for hours
just to get a reflection
and when anythings ray traced it takes ages to render
(to appear) even on a 1.6 gig computer
it took 5 or 6 mins to appear

i did a small animation in me video
of ray tracing with video inside it

but unless youve got real player
and a 56k
or a 256k connection

u wont be able to see it
:)

Xara Studio (Now CorelXara) - It's a plain vector drawing package I bought about 10 years ago, and I still like it better than most.
The anti-aliasing is perfect at a zoom of 25601% :)

I've put up an example of what an expert can do with the program HERE (http://www.bad-hair-day.com/grfx/car.jpg) and I enlarged the detail of the tax disc that you can see in the windscreen.

Things have come a long way since 'Simply3D' came on 3 or 4 floppies.........

i have no stock photography and it was patterns, make a 25x25 or w/e put a black dot in the middle, fill the orignal with new pattern on new layer, spherize 100%, filter>render>lighting effects, default omni light settings with red channel texture ;)

plain lol dont look plain to me pretty good for a 10 year old
program my mate used 3d magic another old one
he brought me his copy cos he didnt use it any more but it well
crashed so i didnt try it again

i use

truespace 2 have used truepace 4: for animating
bryce 2 bryce 4 : for world building
atapi 3d : never did get the hang of that
and i used 3d max for about 4 months its awesome
for animation i did a few, i have on em on cd somewhere
the controlpanels are never ending using particles
and gravity and nurbs it took me two weeks to manage
to put a texture in it lol
the texture part is excellent it mirrors any texture or video
you bring in so it matches itself perfectly
truly wicked program
just wished i owned it :(

The old 3D package I have is a 1995 vintage (Asymetrix 3D/FX), and cost around £30 or so, I believe. It's not too clever by today's standards, but I sort of remembered how to use it.

I have always loved sculptures, and have used the package to faithfully re-create that great statue of 'The Thinker'...........

Your thoughts on my efforts, please.

Nicely added to the original too.........

That's surprisingly good for a .gif image, have you rendered it to 16m colours at all?

Actually I rendered it at the default settings(which I don't know). Then exported it as a .bmp file. Then opened the bmp in fireworks, then exported from fireworks as .gif 256 colors. :)
