My thought... I saw bright blue on black... I can't read it since I'm running at 1600x1200 resolution.

Bright Blue on Black does not work for high resolutions.

Designing for those that do have higher resolutions (or in my case lower) is not easy. I get to lots of sites that I have no problem seeing what is being desplayed. Those are the sites I use for comfort and inspriation as to my site design. I've spent the last two weeks designing my family site to work in 800x600. It sucks. Now my site works in 1028x768(?). My family calls up with all the reasons why they can't see "all the pages"... get a new monitor and graphics card folks. You want my site... get the hardware to see it.
