Is this something like what you are looking for??

create an htaccess file
(Limited but automated)

http://www.eye-create.com/htaccess.html

Create a htpasswrd file

http://showcase.netins.net/1-800-205-1110/resources/basic_htpass_gen.cgi

BTW Neville:
Why does the Tutorials page have a refresh in it? It's annoying as hell to have that damn thing refreshing every couple of seconds. Granted, none of the content changes that freqeuntly to require it, but it's just annoying because IE keeps making that clicking sound everytime it refreshes.. If I have it running in the background for referance its annoying.. Yes I can turn that feature off.. But don't want to I use it more than your tutorials.

The only part which refreshes is the 'users online' part.

Sorry but it will stay like that for the time being since it provides interesting information.

Here's LockIt v2.5, no longer supported and hard to find. Upload it to your webspace anywhere and it will create a username/password for any directory.

I've been using DirectoryPass from LockedArea. Works for me. Take a look.
