Here's the problem....
My home page has a very nice java applet running. Everyone loves it. But, when using NS, it takes a long time to open it. But, I have another similar applet on another page, it takes no time to load. W/ie it loads just fine. Though NS has froze up before on this page. So, maybe you could take a gander & tell me what ya think?

My only guess is there is some other coding on that particular page that is upsetting NS.

Thanks,

I checked with NS and everything loaded "except" the applet. Didn't freeze up on me, but the applet just didn't load.

I couldn't see anything obvious in the source, but then I used Opera (with Java) to load your page. With Opera the applet loaded with no problems, but your rotating banner script did not load any images, even after several refreshes.

This kind of makes me wonder if there isn't a conflict between your rotating banner script and your applet script.?????

I've got two different rotating scripts running on the page. I have one of them designed to show my background image sometimes. Why, you might ask? I do it so that you don't always see an ad everytime you visit the homepage. Since it shows the background image, it looks as if there is no ad or image showing.

Which version of NS are you using?? I am using v7 & it shows, just not real quickly.

Thanks,

I'm using an older version of NS, ver 4.79 (just for checking pages).

The rotating script that didn't seem to function in Opera was the banner rotating one, the one that shows banners just to the left of your applet. And it wasn't that it had just used the background, it was trying to show the banner (the hyperlink was there, but no banner). This happened, as I said, only in Opera (ver 6 w/java) and I tried refreshing the page several times to make sure it happened each time.

Yes, that's the one that shows the background image...The image is parchment-tiny.JPG. It is designed right now to show that image a higher percentage of the time. It does still have a link connected to it, if you just happen to mouse over it. Sometimes it takes several refreshes to actually see the only "real" banner appear...Which just so happens to be the banner for your site.

parchment-tiny.JPG

Is that the actual file name?

One thing, you really shouldn't use dasahes in file names. Use underscores instead.

It rotates. I didn't want my visitors to see an ad everytime they stopped by. Even when an ad shows up, it's small & at this time, the homepage is the only place that is allowed to have any ads.
