phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database.

If it is not network changes, PHP problems, sendmail, then it is MySQL.

What the heck is going on now guys?

Callisto PHP seems slow as a dog after the network and PHP problems; are there still problems being worked, is something not optimized on PHP, what is the problem? Is anyone else noticing these problems or am I the only one on Callisto left having the problems? Geezers...

Sendmail is still not working.

And now getting connection problems to the MySQL database.

Yeah Yeah, I know sent an email to support@powweb.com yada yada yada. Butt they never respond and you do not know whether they received it nor if they are doing anything about it. Gets very depressing to say the least.

**shaking head, not sure whether to stay up to check and try to "fix things", wait for never-returned responses, or just call it a nite**

Hi!

Andrew has posted a message in the Announcements forum that the problem has been reported and is being worked on. :)

Hopefully everything will be up and running again shortly.

Thanks for your patience!!

RadioBob, Alphadesk, nmsupplies - if it were not for your information and assistance, for greasing the skids, I think PowWeb would have gone under by now. Thanks for keeping your cool, your level-headedness under fire - keep up the good work and do continue to keep us informed. Thanks.

Hi Mike!

I visited your site, and had no problem viewing it. There was a good load time on it, and everything appeared to show well.

I read the article on Longhorn and was able to navigate your site without any "issues".

Hopefully things are starting to come together. :)

oops sorry RadioRob..everyone does that. The site in my profile is not the culprit site.

It's http://fauxpas.org

I actually have a few sites on powweb
one on callisto
one on comet
one on saturn
one on mars
one on venus

The one on callisto is the only one I have ever really had any problems with.

My PHP on Callisto is working...it connects just fine to the MySQL server on Quasar, but then none of my CSS or images load in the pages with PHP in them. :(

As long as they keep us updated, so we know they're aware and are trying to fix the problem, I'm happy. I'm also happy when these things get fixed...and I'm even happier when I get free hosting out of it ;)

What we're experiencing right now, is this considered downtime?

Oh well. I'll just stand by and wait for it to get fixed, 'cuz that's all we can do. I'm definitely glad I don't have clients though!

RadioRob -- oldfella is right, so thanks for your reply and info. There still seems to be sluggishness and some sporadic behavior (extended lag periods, etc.). I noticed the post in the Administrative Announcements and hope that continue to check the performance compared to what it was prior to the network modifications and problems with PHP and sendmail.

Thanks for your help!
