OK - could I please obtain precise information from someone with accurate knowledge about the backup scheduling AND duration here at Powweb.

For several weeks I have endured "No space left on server" errors during FTP uploads.

Last week, a member of this community pointed me to the cause of the problem here (http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11174) , this thread linked to another thread in which a user identified a problem with the backup routine and asked when the problem would be fixed (dated 14th Oct.) – no response to that!

It’s happening again, (right now) on "space" and no uploads are possible (45 minutes and counting). I live in Sydney(Oz) and this is my “prime time” for site maintenance. - 8:30pm and this is just not working for me. I need to know when they occur and how long I can expect to be “off the air” in terms of FTP.

Having been on the receiving end on the worst customer service (communication) I have ever endured whilst here at powweb, it is time for an Admin or higher to explain this issue properly and then advise when it will be fixed.

My emails are being ignored (but of course) and whilst the community support here is outstanding (god help powweb’s business future without it!), members cannot fix this.

So let’s see if this email achieves a meaningful response or failing that, how many times it has to be *bumped* before the problem gets solved.

And before I’m told to be patient, I’m developing 3 sites here on three separate servers, I‘ve suffered EVERY problem that’s gone down here in recent months, and have tried real hard to be a moderate in terms of not voicing my frustration . but - (To Powweb) you simply can’t ignore the cries for help from your paying customers – be aware that if this community of CUSTOMERS ever deserts your business – you will not have a business !!

just so you know, I am in the same boat. let me explain:

I had a nice little forum with YaBB first but starting having these same problems you are talking about. Worst of all however, was when the callisto server was corrupted. I am here on space just like you but for some reason on the same day around the same time as this happened, I lost 3 boards. They were completely wiped out as well as some members from teh database. I had over 260 members.......today I have even more but some of the original were lost. Powweb did finally contact me although it was days after ... not the promised 24 hours or before but said it could not possibly be related. Maybe it wasnt but soon after I got it all fixed and another board was wiped out. This board however proved to be irrecoverable and so the data was gone forever. NOt to mention supposedly it has -4 posts and -33 views. now you and I both know that numbers in the negative are impossible. Either it is 0 posts or more than 0. Cant be less than 0 lol. I say lol but it was really no laughing matter cus for the last month I dealt with these boards and members disappearing. I finally had enough figuring it was YaBB and switched over to IKonboard. That took me longer to get all fixed up but I managed to make them look even better and now I am near 300 members. However, today on the 24th just like yourself, I hit rock bottom again. First of all somehow space on server error happened to me. Then top that off I thought maybe it was true and started deleting other parts of my site not related to the ikonboard in any way. However, that didnt solve the problem (and yes i have backups so those parts i deleted are no problem). However, one of the major files at ikonboard named Boardinfo.cgi which tells the addrss of the board and other important things like that was wiped out. I thought the files and boards etc being wiped out was over. So now I have an empty Boardinfo.cgi 0 kb when it should be at least 9 kb. Worst of all, my ftp wont let me upload either so I cant fix the wiped out file so my members are getting this nice little error:

Ikonboard CGI Error
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ikonboard has exited with the following error:

Boardinfo.cgi did not return a true value

This error was reported at: /www/m/mmyso2002/cgi-bin/looking/glass.pl line 123.

Please note that your 'real' paths have been removed to protect your information.

and there is nothing I can do to fix the problem because supposedly there is no space left on server. And yes just like you it is Thursday. I need answers as well and I really do feel your frustration cus I have worked my butt off for a solid month straight. Didnt chat on any messengers, didnt go out to town, missed a lot of well needed sleep, didnt read emails and now have over 6000 to read, and didnt do anything I enjoy doing. All I did night and day minus a few hours here and there to sleep was fix my forum so it was workable again and now all the data is there but noone gets to see it and there isnt a thing i can do about it cus not only was another file wiped out but i cant upload a new one to replace it!!!

JustForMyso - jeez man I feel for you - to get a community up and going is one of the hardest things we do - and when things go wrong outside of your control - off they go, confidence lost in your product and then you try to get them all back - good luck!!

Drop me a line - check my profile ;)

BTW - POWWEB over 2 hours now (2h:17m to be precise) and no official response and still no uploads . . .

C'mon guys read JustForMyso's problem and let's have some action around here -

you've got our money now earn some of it!!

Thanks SDRadio - just checked and you're right.

Now - that's the first part of the problem - how 'bout either fixing the problem or at least posting here a backup schedule showing the server timezone so we can all calculate the local time.

Also the estimted duration of the backup, it seems this one went for over 2 1/2 hours - and frankly that's too long to have FTP unavailable.

I am all set as well however, I had to install another copy of ikonboard to get the Boardinfo.cgi file again. Then I had to edit it, set it up the way the old one had been and replace the one that was wiped out. My question now is, why do my boards or files keep getting wiped out? I am not complaining .... just would like to know why all of a sudden I will find a board is completely wiped out, or even a major file is wiped out. Could it be a hacker or is there a problem with space again?
