Hi. I have PSP 7 and Photoshop 7, but haven't taken the time yet to really learn either, I've been spending my time learning Frontpage, and now Dreamweaver. So I'm kind of relying on others for help on my graphics for now.

My website is www.seattlepoolplayers.com

As you can see, I like the colors dark green, dark blue and dark red, and I'm going to try to work in a little gold.

Anyone have any ideas for a logo, something that maybe someday I could get into and play around with (that's kind of the way I like to learn things.)?

I'm looking for just my name, Seattle Pool Players, with maybe the "oo" in "Pool" as pool balls, maybe an animated gif that would have those two balls roll in place every 10 seconds or so? Perhaps the space needle or Seattle skyline or Mt Rainer in there somewhere?

And I guess while I'm writing a post, even though this isn't the right forum, one other question: I notice a lot of people make their sites look like they're using frames, but they're not. Is there a disadvantage to using frames?

Thanks!

If someone does want to try this, here's a nice collection of pool balls:

Hi Player!

From a fellow pool fanatic "jayce the pool mouse".

I play at computer graphics, college degree in commercial graphics but that was back when a floppy disk really was a floppy disk so what i do as far as computer graphics is self taught or perhaps better put as self torture.

Anyway, would love to help you out for say a plug or two about my Cheesey T Billiard Designs among your friends and on your site or something? Unfortunately at this precise moment a lot of what I use both computer (on my husband's at the moment) and software programs are either giving me problems or have grown legs and disappeared. Example; use to utilize adobe image ready to make animations but the program went "walk about" a while back.

Anyway...

You may find my OnTheCheese.Com Billiard's sister site, OTC's Virtually Free Web Graphics Library @ http://www.geocities.com/onthecheese/ interesting.

Mostly pool related graphics. In particular may find icon of the word "pool" at this site interesting. Sounds like you are looking for something along these lines but incorporating your site name or logo and animated? And perhaps a bit slicker more photo like less artsy.

You asked about use of frames and disadvantages. yes. there are a few.
[1]Not all browser can deal with framed sites.
[2]Framed sites done incorrectly are a major web design "No-NO"and can negatively effect your rankings with search engines It use to be that some engines will not even attempt to index a framed page. Not sure how picky they are now.
[3]As stated before search engines are not as friendly to a framed site. which is why it is usually suggested that if you are going to use frames also design corresponding pages that visitors can go to that are not framed. Ever surf the web and run across a page that gives visitor option of framed version and unframed version?
[4] Well... enough frame bashing for now. I'll stop.

Alternative is to use tables. How I designed these sites for example:
