Hi...
I'm currently working on my families website and would like to know what people who don't know us think about our site. I've tryed to include all kind of bells and whistles on the site. I would like to know your opinion. Thank you very much!!!

I thought it was fun, Hurricane. Everything seemed to work, too. Personal pages should have all the gizmos you want to make them your own and set them apart from the billion others out there (but thanks for not putting up some cheesy midi file *grin*).

Yeah you're right...I get also anoyed by all those midi files on different sites. I always try to do something new on my site. At the moment I try to change all the navigation into Flash. Just started to mess around with it. The biggest problem I had to overcome was to make it compatible for both IE and Netcrap. Thanks for your imput anyway :-)

Sorry you didn't get what you wanted. I see where people are getting help on these forums. I sure have. If Powweb truly hosts thousands and thousands of sites, maybe it's a good thing that everyone doesn't voice their opinions here. It would bog the servers down for sure:eek:

But if there is something specific you wanted that I missed in my little commentary, feel free to send a private message and I will do what I can to answer your question.

I think it is good that not everyone posts a message. I just thought that some more people with more experiences than I have would give some constructive critique of websites. Unfortunately I think that most of the forum visitors abandon this section. I think that we as webmasters of sites need some help/critique from a outsite viewer to make our sites better!
I will continue to give my opinion to other websites and will post them here, in hope that others jump on this train and share their thoughts here, too

Hi,
I'm sorry you didn't get as many replies as you would like but I may have some insight as to why. I personally love to go into others websites. I find it interesting how many ideas people have on various designs. I create webpages myself so I'm always looking for new ideas.

However, my tastes run toward stark, bare, simple.... does that mean everyone's should? Is my opinion important, valid, needed? Who am I to criticise? You see, thats why I seldom post opinions.

But, since you asked, here goes...

I loved the content of your page but didn't care for the site design. Using a black background was good but then, having a seperate frame in blue... it just didn't meld together all that well. Using a different background for a frame is something I'm just not wild about. But hey, thats ME.

Oh, one more thing... where it says "ENTER" on your homepage? Maybe it would be good to make that a hyperlink or remove it and add graphics in the center for the english version or german version.

That was really helpful...thanks... I'm currently redesigning my first page with the Flash intro. I think I need to do something there since, like you mentioned, it is not 100% clear where to click. I just have to find a way to show the viewer that this site is half German/half English and that they can chose between our personal page and our webdesign site. By the way webdesign site...this is just a test...so don't nail me on this one please ;-)

Color in frame: Yep you're right. I have to change this background on this one site. I wasn't happy with it either, but simply just black is to boring (comment of my wife :D) ...I think finding the right balance in the color scheme is the hardest part for a family page...

as promissed...I am willing to learn and take your inputs serious to improve our site. I know this is just a family site, but I think our site has so much more to give. I currently added the new Formula 1 section to it, changed some of the backgrounds and fonts, and modified some Flash features. Like I mentioned before, I'm willing to improve our site. I just need some input...ahh and by the way...I saw that some of you think that our site is that terrible that I should take it of the net, I just want to know why, not just your vote...I don't want to bother your eyes when you accidently bump into the site

Are you kidding? Someone actually said you should take it off the net?! Thats the most unbelieveable thing I have ever heard. The internet is filled with very valuable information yet tons and tons of junk, garbage and worse. Your site has value in and of itself. It is a learning experience and therefore, extremely valuable.

My advice to you is to forget about those who reply like that.

Everybody loves a good love story ... especially Internet ones! You two look great together and are both obviously having one exciting and happy life.

Thank you for offering two languages! I think it was Mark Twain who, after a visit to Heidelburg, said (and I'm paraphrasing here): I think I understand the language at least as well as the maniac who invented it, but I still read it best in translation.

Personally, I hate black backgrounds. Nothing against you, now. It's just that these old eyes have trouble seeing stuff, and color on black doesn't make it all the way to the back of my eyeballs real well.

fcsnc: This part about us was just a very very short part of our story...I will post the full length with articles from magazines and TV appearences soon...
sorry about the dark (not all black :) ) background...my wife is currently working on great backgrounds for our site and for a couple others that we do for friends and family...I hope that this will make it easier to read for you ;)
