If anyone reads this who has an account hosted on the Mercury server and is using MySQL, could you check it and let me know if MySQL is still working for you? Thanks.

(The reason I ask is that my account on Mercury was one of those that was deleted from OPS on Saturday morning and has since been restored, although there are still lingering problems. One of the problems is the inability to access my MySQL database. Since the MySQL database on Mercury had recently flaked out and needed to be reset, I'm not sure if my current inability to access it means the Mercury MySQL server is down again or if something is still messed up with my account.)

Thanks for the help.

To answer my own question...

I went into OPS and took a look at the MySQL settings. Well, surprise surprise, there were no users listed. I recreated the user I had there before, and now everything seems to be working.

This is just like the POP account issue with people that had their accounts deleted and then restored. I found that the passwords were all apparently changed to who-knows-what, so all I had to do was change them back to what they had been and I was back in business (although that didn't work for everyone apparently).

If PowWeb had just said "we've restored your accounts but you'll need to reset your POP passwords and recreate your MySQL users" then that would have smoothed things over quite a bit. I could have had my site fully functional yesterday evening when PHP came back up instead of having to wait until I realized there was no MySQL user just now.
