Hello people.
Time for the critique.
Please don't hold back. Any and all advice and suggestions will be
greatly appreciated. I want this site to be so simple. Is it?
Have at it.
Thanks!!

Cindy,

A very simplistic site, maybe a bit too much so. Although it is very simple to navigate it tends to make the site look somewhat amateurish and could make a possible customer wonder about buying your product.

Your layer is overlapping your 1st "Order and Price Info" link.

You might want to consider just a bit more of a "Pro" look to your site. You can still keep things simple and make the site look more pro at the same time :)

One thing that makes the site look so "un-pro" is the use of table borders and horizontal rules. Consider using a table and organizing your images and text into a bit shorter page.

You have a nice product, don't you think it deserves a little nicer showplace?

Jack,

Thanks so much for your input!

Let me make sure I have this straight. The description page (/page2/) should lose the borders and lines and should be a much shorter page.

How about the Order page and index page? What changes should I make on these two pages?

Again, thanks for the suggestions and taking time to look at my site.

Hi Cindy,

I'd suggest writing at least a paragraph or two describing your site's purpose and put it on the front page of your site. The graphic is pretty, but it only shows one example of your products and I think a bit of elaboration would be a good idea. And it certainly won't help you with search engines that there's no human-readable text on your front page. Without more content, Google, for one, isn't likely to give you a favorable ranking. I don't know how much of your site's success will depend on search engines, and I know I'm kind of obsessive about them these days, but its one more reason to do this.

The second issue I think you should address is your ordering system. Until you can either install a shopping cart program on your site on your own or hire someone to do it for you, I'd suggest eliminating a step for your customers. Have them fill in your order form as you do now, but when you receive the result from FormMail, send an html EMail back to the customer that tells them the amount due and which also contains the PayPal <form> and link button already completed and ready to be clicked. Once you design a sample EMail for this purpose, all you'll have to do is change the amounts for each order. The exact methods will vary a bit depending on the EMail program you use, but its well within your reach right now and will certainly increase the convenience for your customers.

Finally, I think you want to eventually address the mismatch between your comany name and your site's URL. One name I thought of that is apparently available is "artsdesiregifts.com". "allwowstuff" is catchy enough, but doesn't give the warm fuzzy feeling that I think your products are meant to inspire. Definitely something for the "someday" list.

Good luck!

Hi Richard,

I have a site, "Your-Arts-Desire.com", from when I was at catalog.com. It is just sitting out there somewhere. I can't understand if it still has some connection still with Catalog.com.

Can I link allwowstuff to your-arts-desire, or will I have to treat them differenly and have two separate accounts here on Powweb?

The reason for the "all wow stuff" name is that I plan to sell unusal items in the future. Things that I find interesting and unique.

Should I just say that on the index page?

Thanks for the help. I guess I need to rest up for my next cram session.

Cindy,

You can use Domain Pointing to point your Your-Arts-Desire.com domain to the same package that you now have with Powweb.

This is a one time fee of $25, and it will point Your-Arts-Desire.com to your allwowstuff.com package.

By default it would point it to the exact same pages that you now use for allwowstuff.com, but with a little trickery of using the .htaccess file you can later point it to a different folder within your allwowstuff htdocs.
