In changing the background on my site, I need to change the background color around a photo. When I right click on the picture and select "edit picture," I get this message: Associate the picture extension (.jpg or .gif) with the graphics editing program I want to use. In following instructions further I select Tools>Options>Configure Editors tab. I get a box with a list of file extensions of every kind except .jpg or .gif. The configure editor offered is either FrontPage or Notepad. The right-side menu offers a selection of choices; i.e., add, modify, remove. What are the specific steps I need to follow to change the background color. Unfortunately, I seem to have inadvertently deleted the file originally used to set up this picture. Thanks!

It sounds like you're using FrontPage? Are you on a MAC or Windows platform?

FrontPage just expects that you have a Windows application installed that associates .JPG and .GIF images with itself for editing. You can usually establish the association within the program itself (not within FrontPage).

FrontPage used to come with an editor called Microsoft Image Creator. Microsoft Office 97 came with an editor called Microsoft Photo Editor.

There are plenty of other image editors on the market, including those from Adobe (expensive!) and Ulead.
