Is there any way to accurately determin how much of you 100megs you are using? I would hate to go over at an inopertune time!

At this time, just send an email in to support@powweb.com, and they will tell you how much space you’re currently using.

Eventually, we will have this information available to you w/in your member’s area. :)

Thats what I needed to know! :)

Keyplyr,
I just wanted to know what 100 megs would get me. I gotta keep my options open :D

Most websites use under 5MG of disk space. That's why most Hosts start their packages at that.

My website has over 100 pages, with 8 sub-directories containing 4700 image files, 300 audio files, scripts etc... and I am under 15MG.

100MG is an awful lot thats all - LOL

what the heck is a MG?

Megabyte I assume. :)

I think "MG" is MiG misspelled. That is a Russian fighter jet. Most aircraft carriers can hold up to 90 MiG's. So if our websites can hold up to 100 MiG's, that is HUGE! ;)

You'd have to be pretty low to take a megabytes as 1000kb. Hmm.. reminds me of my DSL provider - Telstra.

I learned the hard way to be careful, www.taborama.com is over 40mb now! and it's just 7000 text files. But that's if you don't consider real world storage size on disk. Then it's way over 100mb!! Damn hard drive slack space. This is the main reason I'm converting everything into an SQL database to avoid that slack space.

Just curious... what does Powweb read? Total File Size? or Total File Size on Disk?

Taborama,
Now I am thoroughly confused. Does MySQL make your website “thinner”? Why would I want to use MySQL? Any suggestions on how to be careful? I am truly ignorant on this subject! :)

I think I need to find out how big my site is. I think in the end, I will wind up cropping down many of my images. Decisions decisions!

100 MB is more than enough !!

Even you have 1000 members posting 100's of posts daily, you can prune the posts every month, so you will never cross it ;)

unless you store files on the server, for back up, LOL

:p:p

i think you mean prune.

btw, dont start with the 12 gig file transfer. the most ive ever seen.

Thinner only if powweb counts space on disk... and you had a lot of really small files on your site. My site is composed of mostly little text files. The copy of my website on my hard drive is

Size: 63.1 MB
Size on disk: 104 MB

And that's on an NTFS partition in WinXP Pro. Little files waste a lot of disk space!!

Yes thank god for the 12gig... I did over 10gig/month with www.pennyhost.com (my old host) and they only offered 2gig/month... cost me alot of extra money!!

Just for the record...

if 100mb is too much, give some to me.

My website has a slew of video files, audio, flash, etc etc.
