View Full Version : Netpbm and jhead questions
What is the path to NETpbm?
Does anybody know if this is installed?
Warning!
I can't find jhead. If it's installed and not in the path of the webserver user that's OK -- you can specify the path to jhead by hand on the following page. If it's not installed, you can install it yourself. jhead is a public domain EXIF parser. Source, linux binaries, and windows binaries can be found at the jhead homepage.
NetPBM runs nicely on saturn. Install it above your web root in your cgi-bin and use the absolte Unix path from the server root to refer to it.
More information at: http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/netpbm.html

p.s. Not for the faint-of-heart.... allow about two hours to install and get working unless you already have all the info & are familiar with remote Unix software installation.
also - the base install takes about 1.25 meg of space... so be wiling to give up the space.

After much searching, I found a (binary) version that works here at powweb. You can get it at http://www.spiva.com/jhead and put it in your bin directory also if you need it.

Having searched these forums, and then using the link posted two above, jhead now works in my Gallery!
Obviously the version of jheadf I was trying to use before was wrong in some way.
These forums are GREAT!
Thanks to all!
Steve
I'm blue I have tried to install Gallery the lastest version as of today 12-20-2002. I have even read all the other posts on installing this program and still get the dreaded error 500. Does it have anything to do with the server? I am on io. I also downloaded the netpbm but since I get the error 500 from the get go....................:(
