I have opened an animated gif in image ready, and want to add a text layer to the animation to make it a button. It all seems to work fine until I click "optimize" to save the file, but when I click optimize, i lose all color on my text and it appears in grayscale. I have tried importing to photoshop and back to image ready but it always seems to grayscale when i hit optimize. Does anyone know what Im doing wrong or how to get around this? Thanks for any help.

but having worked with a couple of animation applications and a few gif optimizers I'd say you have over optimized the images. Perhaps selected gray scale, or 16 basic colors, or some number of colors less than 256. There are some other optimization options that will also wash out the images but check your optimization options/settings.

Been a while since worked with image ready. Love the program but has been a while since worked with it trying to remember what I can. Not that I was anywhere near expert at it even when I had it still (one of those mysterious CD walking off on it's own things).
is it only the text layer that is going greyscale? what is happening with colors in the image? check your tool bar under image for mode setting. Basically same thing as advised in previous message just worded a bit different.
Also check what original optimization is set for. Adobe has habit of automatically defaulting to last optimization setting used so may need to change from gif to jpeg and see how many colors is allowing... I think that how I use to get around same problem when I ran into it.. been too long not sure of what I'm trying to say or if even coming out clear.

I had to go into the color box option and click on color setting. it defaulted to greyscale. Thanks for your help.
