Hello!

I've just purchased my new hosting plan with Powweb, and have received my FTP details. However, upon successfully logging in using the details they have provided there are no folders visible?

No htdocs
No cgi-bin
etc

Nothing.

I'm no stranger to an FTP client and have used Port and Pasv modes to no avail, am I doing something blindingly wrong?

Cheers

Clown,
I doing something blinding wrong? Probably not.

It may take a little while before the folders are created. How long since you signed up?

You will need to FTP
server.powweb.com until perm domain name kicks in. Server being the server you are on.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I got the Package Setup e-mail confirming all the details from Powweb about 2 and a half hours ago according to Outlook. I can login to the FTP no problem, I just can't see anything to start transferring my website over, which is a bit frustrating.

I've contacted the support and am furiously pressing refresh in Outlook hoping they respond soon!

Ok, great, and welcome to the forum.

Seems there has been some lag time on the new server "io" for setting up the folders. Starr will be looking into this.

Sure it won't be long now that support has it.

Ahhh, I'm on io

I shall sit here and wait, well, not too long as it's now getting late here in Blighty!

And is it me or are some of the powweb servers named after Jupiters moons?

All the servers are named after heavenly bodies. I'm waiting for the one named Marilyn Monroe. ;)

I see you are a photographer. Nice pics. I do a little myself.

Thanks for the compliment. I have to confess it's a new undertaking and I'm still learning at a rapid rate!

I have the utmost respect for anyone who dares to take a camera underwater, there all the rules change! Also, diving around here in the UK amounts to a murky disused quarry or the bitter North Sea or Atlantic! It's not often I get to indulge that hobby, and I would love to get pictures as good as yours.

Any idea how long now? Yes, patience is a virtue, and no, I don't possess any!

I kicked it to an admin. Hopefully anytime now.

Use [URL] and closing tag.

Thanks for the kudos, what you don't see are the 100's that are just blue or green. It took many rolls before I fiqured out if I can't reach out and touch the subject my equip would not put out enough light to get anything good.

Thanks for shoving it upstairs!

All, I know about underwater is to use a wide angle, lots of light and if you can just about slip a credit card between you and the subject you should be okay!

What you using in your Captain Nemo forays?

Motor Marine II , YS-50 flash with good ole Fuji 100. I would love to get the Nikon auto, but really can't justify the $$$$ for the number of times we go.

Is this still an issue? Signed up ~6 hours ago, appears I got assigned to io as well, and no folders created here either.

Tried creating an htdocs folder manually to populate, but that didn't seem to work.

Get with support@powweb.com and they will create the folders. You can't, it won't work.

Also check in OPS and make sure all is good, nothing pending.

Post your domain name so admin will know what to work with.

I had the same problem also on Io a week or so ago. But the folders did finally come up. Guess I was trying to rush things. (grin) But now everything, including my forum is up and running smoothly. Cool!
