Hi Lorraine

I am sure if I misdirect you someone will peek in here and correct me, so keep checking back for more posts in your thread. That having been said, here are some things to help.

I believe that once you get that email from support@powweb with all your user information and ftp and POP passwords you can begin uploading your site to powweb using your favorite ftp application. Your public directories go into the htdocs folder, and you need an index.htm or index.html file there, too.

You weren't clear about whether you are changing a DNS assignment or are registered here with Powweb's affiliate. You need to be sure that whoever your domain's registrar is that they pointing your domain at the Powweb primary and secondary DNS servers, as noted in that email I just mentioned. (there are a number of threads on that topic here in the forums under "Domain Names and DNS")

If that has been done, it is necessary for the new location of your server to propogate across the web. Everyone seems to take from one to three days, though they say it can take as long as a week. Patience until it happens is a virtue.

As for password protection on areas of your web, there are various utilities available. Are you looking to set up forms and an automated registration procedure, just give out a single password to select group of users, or individual passwords to each user you want to give access to? This would make a difference in what and how you do it. The simplest thing to do is learn how to use .htaccess and .htpasswd to secure individual folders. Look at this thread: http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=689

There are a number of threads available here in the forums on that same topic. But if you run into any specific problems, post them and someone will surely help you out.

Hope this helps
