My subscription to Norton is about to expire. I looked to see what the options were.....and figured I could find something cheaper (or buy the whole thing again with a rebate for less).
Went to Amazon and read the comments - yikes! Bad stuff for the new Norton....but bad comments for McAfee, too. What has been your experience with the newer versions?

Thanks,

I (and some of my customers) have not had too good of results using McAfee. It tends to either crash a system or just let virus's pass on by, not catching them, neither of which is a good thing. It is also a very big resource hog.

I've been a long time Norton user, until this last version of mine (2002) and it has been a disappointment as far as I'm concerned. It was a medium resource hog (I could live with that) but it also crashed a lot. After catching a virus, it would then shut off the email protection for all accounts, thus removing all incoming email protection.

I've been using the free version of AVG to check it out, and so far I have been rather impressed. It is NOT a resource hog at all, it uses about 2% of the resources after a clean boot. It has worked without problem and caught many virus. I am considering going with their Pro version.

And that's Just my "For What It's Worth"

AVG looks pretty good! I think I'll give the free version a try.
Thanks for the info!
