Image Map - How Do I??

I'd like to take a photo and map it ( hot spots ) so that when a mouse passes over that section it will change colors around the border and flash.

To let the surf'r know they can click there to enter that portion of the page.

Some of the portions of map are not going to be square but irregular in shape.

Is this going to be a JAVA problem?? or

Do I chop it up in a graphics app?? and map the pieces seperatly?

any ideas?

This (http://www.1automata.com/hotspots/index.html) may be of some help to you, if you need animation included.

If not, try a couple of web searches on Image maps/Hotspots.
There's quite a few tutorials available.
