Ok, so I surf alot... (least that's what my wife says)
So, what have I noticed lately? PowWeb banners, adverts, hyperlink text, all going back to PowWeb offering an incredibly low price for hosting and an outrageous storage and bandwidth (yes the same package I'm signed up on).
Now on the face of it, I'm overjoyed that PowWeb has the money to place all the different types of ads, but in the same breath, I'm scared that every person that might want a domain and a site for only $7.77 (plus the domain cost) will be stepping up to PowWeb. Is PowWeb really ready for such an influx of particapants?
I mean the PowWeb adverts (whether banner, text, or other) are starting to show up EVERYWHERE. Web pages, Lockergnome, Woody's Whatever Watch (I subscribe to them all), et. al.
I take the two edged swoard and bestow knighthood on PowWeb, as long as one of the edges of the sword doesn't cut off my great access, doesn't cut off my great response time on page loading, doesn't cut off my great price that they currently offer and doesn't cut off the hand that has fed them, simply because the "numbers" need an uplift.
I wish PowWeb more than well, but just want to rest easy that they don't blow up like other under-staffed, under-capitaledized, under-financed hosts before them. Shoot, just by word of mouth, I've got a couple of people to sign up (yes, without referal). I guess I'm just whinning because I've seen them come and I've seen them go, but I love this one in particular and will (would) hate to see a demise due to a hugh ramp up that doesn't pay the bills later.
In the spirit of DM, "just my opinion, and I could be wrong" :)
