I'm the admin for an ezboard forum, and lots of peeps need space for storing their gifs, etc.

I'm leary of skyrocketing my powweb space for this, but someone said image storage is "almost nothing."

Any experience? Is there a way to guestimate from the forum's stats what the bandwidth might be?

And can anyone suggest a web-based uploader that's simple for non-technical posters to use?

TIA!

I dont know EZBoard. I do know that you can do what you want on other boards. There are websites that usually have BB's dedicated to Mods for the BB apps.

I did a really quick look on Google.com and found a load of sites offering Mods for EZBoard, though I did not get into what they had to offer.

A word of caution....since Mods can be offered by anyone, be safe and cautious with them. Back up your board before Mod'ing it in case the Mod is toxic or just written ineptly.

I have been exploring Mods available for PHPBB,,,and they are extensive. I saw mods just like what you are looking for to enable users to upload things and even join in a picture gallery. Other mods available included administration changes and the ability to add a Yahoo Messenger-like module so users on the board can IM eachother and chat.

Another thought....your people can post links to their pics and avatars instead of uploading them directly to your site. You will have to allow them to upload html, which I guess can be risky, but if you allow them to remotely hotlink their pics, then they are not using any of your bandwidth to display them.

Good luck

Douglas, if you just want a place for your EZBoard users to be able to store their graphics on-line, you may want to look into http://www.imagemagician.com/

I used to use EZBoard and some of my members without websites use imagemagician to store their graphics. It offers 1mb of free storage, which is enough for several "board size" graphics. I haven't used it, but I hear that it's quite user friendly.

There's also www.geekshelf.com (http://www.geekshelf.com). for hosting graphics. It works very nicely as well. There doesn't seem to be a size limit on the number of files. I've used it happily for many months now with nary a problem.

another really good one is www.picturetrial.com they serve images with lightening speed and the best part........they are free !

you can use the images on ebay and message boards, they even provide you with the link to each photo.
