What do you think of my site?

Im sure you've noticed its no where near done, but what are your first empressions? I consider my self an ametuer to web design because this is my first website, so am I off to a good start?

Thanx in advance for you input.

Hi Gavan

I like the look, but I did comment on the poll that the grey lettering should be a something darker. It was a bit hard to read for me. Obviously this is something you are aware of or it wouldn't have been a choice on your poll. But black is a bit too dark....maybe a darker grey?

Otherwise, the layout at the top has a very architectural appearance......which is a plus for graphics and design. I like it a lot. Post again when you have more things developed. I would enjoy visiting again to see what you have done.

Thanks Ddr and Hurricane, I appreciate your comments. I think I'll go change the font color right now.

Do think the poll should pop up? And how fast did the site load on what connection?

Thanx again for the input.

My first thought on the poll pop-up was not a very nice one. I resent popups, unless they are something called up by a link I press. Maybe you could ask people who visit your site if they would like to answer a poll (Click Here If You Do), and then bring up the popup window if they click?

I am on a very fast Pro DSL line that clocks in at over 1.45 Mb/sec. Your site loaded instantly for me.

Come back and ask for us to look again when it is a bit further along. I am anxious to see if you can keep up the quality appearance throughout the rest of the site.

Dale,

I too have always resented pop ups because of their incredable annoyance, but I also understand why they are used - people see them! But your input changed my mind, because it's really about what the user wants and not the webmaster or designer wants.

But anyways, I changed the text to a darker grey, so I hope most people are able to read it easily.

Thanx for the comments,

Hey Gavin,

I really like the begining of your site. It has some unique design you don't see everyday. I am also fond of white backgrounds. A white background gives so much more flexibity in design. It is very interesting how you incorporate the site name into the nav.

The popup situation is a sticky one. You can run people off or maybe make a sell that you might not have without the popup. All the popups that I use hopefully adds some value to the web site and to what the visitor may want. All the popups that I use are informational type things about how to do something, etc.

Anyways Good Luck with the site.

I like it. I agree with the statement above about the arcitechural feel of it.. very well done. Very creative and original..

Your logo looks really good.
I like the colors too. Is that a
subliminal message on the top?

The word is spelled "thousand" not "thausand".

I vote against any pop-up boxes.

Other than that, I like the look of the site. It's very clean looking (minimalistic).
