View Full Version : My web site is down
and I can't connect to the FTP?
WHY?
I am on Jupiter.powweb.com
JLRForum (http://www.jlrforum.net/upload/index.php)
This is tHE DSS (JLR Forum.Net developer)..... I noticed this morning the place was down!
Haven't been able to connect at all to the Internet since yesterday morning because our phones have been down due to bad weather!
Anyways... the whole thing is out!! Our site monitoring service mailed me saying the site was our for about 56 minutes at around : Sat Feb 02 21:06:49 EST 2002, EST
... and I just got a new mail saying it's out again : Sun Feb 03 06:44:30 EST 2002, EST
Please resolve.
My site has also been down for the past 10 hours.
It was also down yesterday for 52 minutes between the 21:00 and 22:00.
Any help would be appreciated,
-Nik
P.S. I too am on jupiter.powweb.com.
Orion is also still down - I fear if it's not up by this afternoon (PST) I will forced to be outta here. (I cannot afford downtime on this site and it's still in the DNS transfer stage.)
Also, no one from technical has gotten back to me on this and no one has responded to my original post.
Orion has never been down NOR is it currently down. There is something else wrong if you cannot get to your site or account on Orion.
Re: Jupiter, we have been working all night on this machine. There have been some hardware conflicts.
Awesome, the site is back up!
My temporary address is http://dandellonet.powweb.com/ - This WAS a working address.
For the past 16 hours I have gotten 'cannot locate remote server'
This also occurs when trying to FTP using orion.powwow.com
to access my site. (It comes up as 64.63.125.221:21 and times out.) I CAN access my directories using 64.63.125.42.
However, I don't have an equivalent alternate method of address for spidering my site links on the server or checking the CGI configuration - all the CGI scripts work but there is a difference is directory structure between this server and my old one.
The clock is ticking on the hosting change here.
Can I safely assume this access issue will not affect my domain once it propogates through the system?

On Jupiter
this is awful, I just promoted my website yesterday all over the place and I know people have been trying to access it.
This was the worst time for this to happen.
Please do whatever you can to get the site back up.
Don't feel bad. I just sent my newsletter out to 1300 people and jupiter is down again.
Jupiter come back up..... it's back down again.
Can the name of this server be named "yoyo" instead of jupiter... it's more fitting. :D
Anyways, come on PowWeb people - when the service is working, it's hotter than hot... it's excellent to the point where I just want to shout your name from the roof-tops...but, we have a global private project going on at the JLR Forum - a bunch of musicians using some private forums to communicate - they are relying on our service, as we rely on yours and it's not looking good at the moment.
To top it off, we've attracted another project, and it's just been setup, I am supposed to be in the process of letting people in to their new home.... I can't do nothin while it's like this - God knows what they are thinking about us.
All of the sites mentioned in this thread appear to be working fine from North Carolina right now (11:15 pm EST 02/03/02)
Yes, dandellonet.powwow.com is back up.
Since the server wasn't down, was it the name server?
BTW, technical hasn't gotten back to me and it's been well more than 24 hours.
And yes, I can't spell - it's dandellonet.powweb.com (powwow is something else)
I was gonna point that out powwow :D
Anyways JLRForum (http://www.jlrforum.net) I am glad it's back up and running as I am hoping this does not happen again and we can get back to normal service.
In future I would say to Powweb, if your Server goes down please let us know whats happening as for nearly 1 day none of us knew anything about the reasons why
JLR
Oh Yeah come vist us @ JLRForum (http://www.jlrforum.net)
