Does someone have any good search engine scripts available to share? I'm looking for a script that allows you to put the search box on anypage within your site, not necessarirly have to be in the script folder. Please help!!!!
Thanks.
Here's a site with several for you to take a peek at:

Good luck and hope that helps. :)
I'm going to also suggest you consider the atomz.com search tool instead of installing a script. Its a very versatile system that will index most reasonably-sized sites (I forget the limit, but it's gobbled up our 100-page site OK) and handles advanced searching (logical operators and such). It even allows you to construct your own custom results page. The free version just requires you to include a banner ad for their service on the results page. It respects <meta> tags and robots.txt, too. You can install the search box on any page and as many pages as you like. Check it out at:

Good luck!

I visited the page of hotscript.com already, and installed a few of the search engines. The main inconvenience is the limitaion of placing search boxes. I just want a seach engine that allows you to place a search box on any page.

My vote is for atomz (www.atomz.com). The page limit is 500 for the free version, and has controls to tell the engine which directories and files to include and exclude. If used wisely, it should be easy enough to keep the page limit below 500.

I like to have my own search engine, so I can cumtomize the our look, not hosted by someone else. Please tell me some good scripts.

It's completely customizable. Check out my co-op's Web site (link below). Test it out -- you'll see that the search engine looks exactly like the rest of the Web site.
Hi Malebeauty,
I use a script that works fairly well. You can test it out on my site (http://sun-e-cards.com).
I got it from http://www.scriptarchive.com/
It's free link-ware and was easy to setup and install on my server.
Let me know what you think of it.

Here is a real good and simple script that I found. It works and easy to install. http://www.heathcosoft.com/webproducts/searchsite
I'll "third" atomz.com - the price is right and all the searching and indexing happens on Atomz' site, so you don't have to worry about scripts. It's also very fast and full-featured. The first two of my sites below use atomz.com's free service. (The limit used to be 100 pages, I could tell it had been raised, but didn't know what to...)
The only downside to atomz.com I can think of is that, for the free service, you can schedule reindexing once a week only. (You can do a manual reindex at any time, though.) I don't find this a problem.
