My account was just activated today and I was wondering if one could host their friends on their domain? For example, I'd like to host some of my friends on my domain since they are stuck on envy.nu.

If so, how does one go about doing this?

Probably the easiest way to do that would be to just create a subdirectory under /htdocs for each friend's page(s). For example,
/htdocs/mysti (referenced by http://snow-dream.com/mysti)
/htdocs/buffy (referenced by http://snow-dream.com/buffy)

etc.

Or you could create an FTP user in your OPS called "friends" and make a directory called "friends" and give them access only to that directory and below:
/htdocs/friends/buffy
/htdocs/friends/joe

etc.

Your domain, along with your 100MB, is yours to do with as you please, within the bounds of good taste.

She should log into the Powweb control panel (OPS) and check for messages from Powweb regarding her web site. Or she could email or call tech support.

She is unable to.. last I heard she lost interent connection. She is not able to get online. All her hostee's I know are having this problem and I am one of them. I have two sites she host's for me. ONE is very large and has taken alot of work. I have alot of information I will be loosing, I mean alot, information I cannot get back because of real life problems I didn't get around to making backups for my files etc :(

*Sighs*

She paid over $130.00 not even 8 months ago. They said it would last for another year or so, from what she told me. This shouldn't be happening then?

Orion.powweb.com is what we have to type into FTP besides our name, password etc. Ftp is rejecting us when we try to get in. It logs in then disconnects. Saying it cannot authenticate.

She (Mysti) is the only one who can resolve this. As owner of the domain and package she is responsible for what happens, and no one else can do much about it.

I see that the domain name expires on the 4th of Feb, so she needs to get in contact with support to see about resolution soon.

So there is NO way for me to get my files off her site before this happens so I can move them else where? This isn't good. None of her hostee's even got a notice of this since she wasn't online. :(

Great.........

Using FrontPage 2003, you can import all of the files off the site to your computer, assuming the site is not password protected for browsing.

In other words, if the public can view the site, FrontPage 2003 can import the entire site to your computer.

None of us can even view the site. It comes up as "Page cannot be displayed". We cannot log into FTP either.

You will probably need to have the domain/package owner contact PowWeb, then. If she doesn't have internet access anymore, PowWeb has a toll free phone number that she can call to find out what the problem is with her package. From the way it's sounding, it looks as though the package has expired.

Heh.. she hasn't a phone either.

She is netless, phoneless at the moment. I won't go into details but hard times hit.

Is there anyway that she can come over to your house and use your phone? Or the phone of a relative? I'm just trying to give suggestions here. :)

I guess there just isn't anything I can do. All my work is for nothing, it was important I get it back but I see it's not possible. *sighs,* umm thanks.. for the.. help.......:(

I truly am sorry. If there was anything else we could do to help you, trust me, we would tell you. However, when it comes to the package and money involved like it is, and security, she is the only one who has authority to handle it.
