Simple question

I see a lot of messages re: downtime and references to pluto, jupitor, etc servers. I've been with Powweb for about a month, have experienced not one second of downtime. My broadband connection is with Qwest.net. Can someone explain what pluto and the like are? I feel silly... not knowing the answer. TIA!

Those are just the names that they give the different servers. I am on Venus.
