Thank you, Andrew, for posting about last night's switch problem in the Announcements Section (http://forum.powweb.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=10).

I would like to offer two things:

(1) Thank goodness! this happened during the wee hours of the morning in most time zones of at least the US; and

(2) Major gratitude to the Powweb admins for noting the problem, jumping into gear, and fixing it despite the time of day or day of week. This is what makes Powweb the best value in webhosting on the planet.

I totally agree with your statement about customer service.

I think you guys have been cheering too quickly...

I live in the ET Time Zone being in Montreal. At around 7 am this morning (Feb. 8th) I tried to:
- Go to my website
- Retrieve my email in Outlook Express
- FTP files to my website
and none of that was working.

Now I NEED to update my website in the morning. Right now, i retrived my email and my website is active but I still CANNOT FTP anything to my website.

I even tried FTP'ing through the website (like I read you can do that in a previous post in the present forum) and it tells me I am not allowed to access this server...bla bla bla...saying the address or the server name is unresolved...etc...

What is going on? I have a bunch of people waiting for me to update my website and I still can't do it.

So for saying that, I think that the cheering should be done AFTER everything has been resolved and notin the middle of it...

Any ideas on how long this is gonna take before I can update my website? Right now it seems like I don't even own my website anymore coz I don't have access to my files....

Hope this is gonna be resolved soon...

I am unable to replicate. I can ftp into your account and edit or add files w/ no problems.

I have tested this from off site as well as through a proxy in Colorado.

I've noticed that I cannot navigate to my domain (www.primalrhythms.com) - and ops.powweb.com is offering up a 500 Internal Server Error.

Ok well it seems everything is working ok now coz I just connected with WS_ftp which I wasn't able to do about 30 minutes ago.

Anyways, thanks for the help and info...

I have a question though and I want to know if it's only on my end:

I try go to the ftp site with IE and when I go to ftp://ftp@anhs.qc.ca theres a window that pops up that gives me the following message:

220 neptune.powweb.com FTP server (version 6.00LS) ready
530 User ftp unknown

Is this normal?

If you insist on using IE for ftp, the syntax would be:
ftp://boliver:sizemore@ftp.anhs.qc.ca

...assuming, of course, that your username is boliver and your password is sizemore.

But for what you entered, yes, the response would be normal.

Now, can we get back to the cheering? :)

Will there be beer and pretzels?

(but seriously, always happy to hear the Admins do care about their servers and their service)

To me, service is the most important factor when deciding where to host a domain. I moved my first domain to PowWeb in December. Now, I have eight of them here because they have proven that they do care about customer service. It should be a no brainer that ISP's and hosting companies care about their customers, but from what I've seen the past five years, there are a bunch of companies out there that don't care about their customers. I think some of them spent too much time in tech classes in school when they should have taken some study in the art of customer service and business practices. High five PowWeb... Keep up the good work...
