View Full Version : Script causing porn popups?

I've found a new clue in the search to eradicate those porn popups from my internet experience. I'm hoping one of you script experts might have some input now.

When I am surfing around the net, I will sometimes find something I like on a page and I do 'View/Source' to find out how its done. Suddenly, at the top of every source page, it now says script src=http:/a.a.b/dffs

or

script src=http:/a.a.b/dffs </script>script src=http:/a.a.a/dff</script><HTML>

I've taken out some of the "<> and / in the scripts above so that nobody will click on the links and cause themselves some problems, but hope I've left enough so that you can tell if this might be the source of my problem.

Appreciate any assistance on this!

Have you cleared the cache on your system after this started.

start>settings>contolpanel>internet options

to get rid of all the tempary internet files. Also remove all of your history in the internet options. see what happens. nothing to loose.

Pop up stopper at http://www.panicware.com/product_dpps.html
has two versions a free one and a pay for one.

http://www.panicware.com

I, of course, use the free one. Have been doing so for the last several months and it works greeeeeat.

The only change you will notice is that on some sites when you click on something nothing will happen. You only need to then hit control and then click. (This is what you can do normally if you want to open something in a new window anyway) You will know you need to do this as the little icon down near your clock will flash with an red x showing you that it is stopping a pop up.

Once you get this on your system you will wonder how you did with out it. And if anyone buys the pay for version let us know how it works and if its any better than the free version. I quess you would need to try the free first then buy it.

All the best

Yesterday I download Netscape and it seems to be free of the popups.

Hate to try getting used to something else but it was my only choice.

Oh, I tried Popup Stopper but for whatever reason, it messed up my login here. I just couldn't stay logged in at all. Typed a message and went to post but I wasn't logged in. Logged in and the message was gone...

...sigh.....
