The php pages on the site are actually slow, but html pages are fast as usual.

I'm on venus and have not experienced any slow down html or php pages.

Post url to pages in question.

My site on saturn has been running very slow since yesterday also. I haven't been able to tell if it's a mySQL problem or a server problem. But, it's definitely running a lot slower than normal. :(

Yes malebeauty,,,seems very slow. As a test can you remove the banner link at the bottom of the page and see if it makes any difference.

This is php pages using mysql on venus and loads like a bullet.

Well,,,something is hanging on some of your pages. Post the code down in the php forum and maybe one of the php gurus will spot something.

Alpha, I'm starting to think all these slowdowns tonight are not Pow's fault, but rather widespread internet routing issues. My reasoning is as follows:
Right after you posted that your site was lightning fast, I tried to visit it and found 4-5 second load times. EDIT 12:09am: Clarification. Specifically, what I visited was your guestbook page.
Pings to a number of west-coast sites including Microsoft and Powweb, are very slow for me (300ms+) [note.... I'm in Wisconsin]
A tracert to www01.powweb.com (where my 'slow' site lives) indicates several timeouts between here and ther (17 hops total, intermittent timeouts at hops 10, 14, 16, etc.
I am no expert at reading tracert output, but 300+ route times are surely going to mean slow responses! IE, can't load that frame until the frameset loads; can't find out what images on the frames to load until the frame HTML loads, etc... Lots of sloooow round trips.

Sound plausible?

I think it may be templete problem on the server. Some php pages which include php or html files are working fast, the ones that include template files are extremely slow.

By the way, in the few short minutes since my last post, my routes have been reconfiguring, pings are down to their typical level for me (~150ms) and alpha's guestbook, as well as my own pages, are loading much more quickly now. Things are still comin'-and-goin', tracert-timeout wise, but overall much improved.

I think there's an object lesson here.... just 'cause it's slow, don't mean it's Powweb's fault (not to be a Powweb apologist or anything.... just trying to keep my thinking logical).

Everybody have a good night. 'tis time to pursue perfection in the fine art of slumber.
