View Full Version : Comet Still very Slow.
It is so slow, it might just have well stopped.
Please do something, PowWeb.
I am getting "somewhat" (very) upset about the performance of comet. It's soley because we are not getting good service on comet, but that we are getting no answers, and when we do, they are vague and muttled. Would someone PLEASE PLEASE elaborate extensively on the cause of the slowness of comet. I am on a LIGHTENING FAST OC-48 fiberoptic connection. I consistently get downloads of 5-8 MB /sec downloads from fast servers .....
......yet my page that simply has 5 or so links that i use as my homepage, takes 10 or more seconds to even respond, and that's WHEN IT DOES respond.
All I'm asking for is an acceptable explanation of the situation on comet, and perhaps a general time table for the resolution of the problem.
P.S. - I love powweb's service, just wanna keep it that way.

We are doing all we can for comet. We are looking for ways to rebuild much of it w/ no or little downtime for our customers.Starr is aware and I'm sure not happy with comets performance. No doubt they are working on a solution.

Thanks for the reply alpha. Do you know exactly what the problem is?

Do you know exactly what the problem is?No idea, but it's obviously not some easy fix or it would already have been done. They may have to rebuild the server.
I'm not on comet, but my server has been slow for at least a half-hour, too. I'm on the new architecture; the server is www01.powweb.com.
I sure would like to know what's up! Is this maybe a network issue, not a server-specific one?
You know, now that I stop to consider it, I was FTPing some files up to FTP01.powweb.com around 2.5 hours ago... that operation was slow and stutteringly responsive around that time as well :-/
I thought nothing of it at the time. I hope this all clears up soon!
