View Full Version : comet - somebody please reply!
www.thefallsemester.com (http://www.thefallsemester.com)
This is my website. It is hosted on comet. It has been DOWN for a whole day now (24 hours). PLEASE somebody give us a time frame for when comet will be fixed. Or just let us know something like what you are doing. I know you are working on it but I'd like a little more information than that.
THANK YOU
I wouldn't expect much, i'm sorry to say. They don't seem to have the answer, which is a rare occasion with the powweb people. So hopefully they'll let us know about a possible rebuild of comet....
for the record i'd suggest a compromise of transferring everyone to the new architecture, then rebuild comet. Only 2 days downtime, which is better than the guessing game we have now.
My 2 cents
Your site seems to be up now:
"Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I'm glad to say we've actually been busy as of late. On Jan 23rd we finally stepped inside Dallas Sound Lab and started "
I'm still not able to view it, or connect via FTP.

salvag,
"You should of thought about that, before you broke my heart, ya should of thought about that, before you kissed him."
Have you run traceroute from your machine to see if it times out?

That is really weird, sorry for jumping to conclusins and blaiming it on Powweb.
I have a couple friends that tried to connect to it and they are also able to see it.
Perhaps it's my ISP or something?
Comet has been slow all day, but once in awhile it picks up for a few mins. I can't load salvag's site or my site quickly today. Been like this for days like other comet sites :(

Yes, Comet seems to have some serious problems.
yeah they really need to increase the speed on comet..... it has been soooooooooo slow for over a week now....
.....and PowWeb should fix it - if only they knew how.
This is an unsatisfactory situation.
.....agreed. I will once again state my position that our files should be transfered to the new architecture until comet can be revamped. This will mean 2 days max downtime, which is better than the come and go situation we're in now.
Comet's problems have been related to memory. The system was upgraded and the amount of ram was doubled. We will continue to monitor the system however we believe that should fix the problems it has been having.
