Hi. I'm trying to create an online weekly newletter. I started on creating the Web site with PHP-NUKE because it seemed perfect.
The way that it works for posting news is that someone submits news, the administrator accepts the submission, and it automatically gets posted in the archive section, if I'm working the Nuke right. And it gets sorted by date.
The way I want it is for the news to be organized into categories, like Sports, Headlines, etc.
Another problem is that if I add links to fresh news on the front page, it will link to the news in the archive section because that's where all the news is located. That shouldn't be; the new news should go to another section, right?
Also, what is AvantGo?
Thanks fellow PHP-nukers. :)

You can organize by categories pretty easily. Once you've created different topics for your news posts you can just click on the little icon to have them sorted by categories.
Er. I'm not sure I'm explaining that right. Check out the front page of my site. The latest post from one of the guys is in the 'tech news' category and if you click on the 'tech news' button it will only display news from that category. What you'll want to do is go into the admin menu, hit 'topics' and create your topics there.
You could also create different news posting categories (where it defaults to "articles" in the add story menu, for example mine is just set to news but I could create other categories) and then enable the 'categories' block so your visitoes could sort by that (if I enabled that block it would only display "news" but if I added other categories and not topics I could sort via that block.)
I hope that makes sense. It's a bit late for me and this Nyquil is starting to take effect.
I'm not sure I follow what you mean about the links, but that could be the Nyquil interfering again. I think the links go to the archive section because only one story is being linked, so it's displayed as 'archived' news even though it's new.
Lastly, I haven't figured out AvantGo yet. I haven't deleted the module because I'm not sure if it will be useful to me or not, it seems to just list the news posts that show on your main page.

Catagories vs. Topics
Example
Catagory: Sports
Topic: Football
Topic: Soccer
Topic: Hockey
Catagory: OS
Topic: Windows
Topic: Linux
Topic: Mac
etc.
AdvantGo is for stripped content available for Mobile phones/ PDA's
once you setup the Catagories and Topics & start posting your news with them, then they will come up in your archive/catagory/topic sections automatically.

Hi Jade. I looked toward your site, pownuke.com, for some php-nuke help, but this error displays when I try to register:
General Error
Could not insert data into users table

Try again. I just registered a test user and it went through fine.

Jade, it gives me that error when I try to register via the phpBB forum. And it still does.
But it went fine when I registered via the Nuke itself.
By the way, nice site. :) I'm registered as gigahertzguy
