I'm running Mac OS X, which has built-in FTP capability which I used to upload files to my previous web site.

When I connect to the PowWeb FTP server for my account, it says that there is zero space available and it won't let me upload anything (though downloading through FTP works fine). Other FTP programs upload fine though (I downloaded Fetch, but I'd really prefer to use the OS built-in FTP).

Is there something special I have to do to make this work with OS X?

For what it's worth.

I am running OSX 10.2, and I am using R Browser Lite to FTP files. I works very well and it is freeware.

I use 10.2 as well, and I always thought that the built in FTP was not able to upload. Was this changed in a recent 10.2.x update?

What - the command-line FTP? Works for me (10.2.3).

Or the ftp in IE? Did uploading ever work anywhere, on any version, Windows or Mac, except maybe with IIS servers? Certainly not in my (limited) experience...

Or is there another FTP client that comes with OS X? (Could be, I've only had this plastic box for a few weeks ;-)

CYa...

All I know is that with my old server (with VirtualAve.net) I could just do command-k and type in the ftp server address and password and my ftp directory would come up as a volume which I could browse in a Finder window and drag files into to upload them. It was really slick, but doen't seem to work with Powweb. I'll try out "R Browser Lite" or maybe learn the command line ftp, it doesn't look too hard.
