Cannot access webserver

Myself and a friend picked up a domain name and year of service here at powweb. Took about a day for the domain to become active but now it will take you to a powweb underconstruction page.

Anyway, OPS is telling me that the site is active, but I cannot access it via FTP yet? If I can forward email from mysite.com why can I not access the webserver?

Edit: ok it seems that I cannot use ftp.mydomain.com instead I must use a powweb one. How long does it generally take till ftp.mydomain.com can be used?

ftp.yourdomain.com will not work until your domain name has fully propogated the Internet's DNS databases. This can take between 24 and 72 hours normally (depending on your ISP and how often they update their DNS files).

Until then you can use the temporary URL and the temporary ftp address to get your site all ready for when the full domain will go live.

On the new servers such as ftp01.powweb.com, ftp02.powweb.com etc. you will need to use that addy for FTP connections.

On the servers which are named after heavenly bodies such as comet.powweb.com, or meteor.powweb.com you can use ftp.yourdomain.com
