webstats fails every weekend

my stats went down for the 3 rd weekend in a row.
Any reason for this to be happening on weekends?

Powweb rotates access_logs every Sunday at about midnight. Based on that, answers to the following may assist in finding what your problem is.

How are you running webstats updates? Do you have webstats turned on and allowing Powweb to run every Sunday, or, are you using a crontab file in your ETC directory to run automatically, WITH Webstats TURNED OFF in your OPS set-up?

This makes a difference.

i have em turned on in my powweb setup page.
these outages are new, ever since comet server
went down a few weeks ago....

I suggest that you turn Webstats off in your OPS, create a crontab file, and then let your webalizer update on the frequency that you decide.

You can create the crontab.txt file uing notepad or other text editior, upload to ETC in ASCII and then rename the crontab.txt to crontab.

This is my crontab file ...

23 */12 * * * /usr/local/bin/webalizer -c /www/u/username/etc/webalizer.conf -p >>/www/u/username/logs/cron.log 2>>/www/u/username/logs/cron.err

change username to your username,, and change the u (after the www/ to the first letter of your username.. Do not have it wordwrapped. If you set this up and simply want to test it,, set the first number to the minute you want it run... set the second value to * ... therefore, like this for 26 minutes past the hour:

26 * * * * /usr ....

This will run every hour at 26 minutes past the hour.. after you run it successfully, simply change the first 5 values to what you really nee.. mine runs at 12:23AM and then again at 12:23PM.

My webstats finally worked correctly this weekend for the first time. It looks like the powers at powweb have adjusted my ZIP time to after 1am and the webstats run a few minutes after midnight, so now stats are updated BEFORE the logs disappear into the zip file. THANKS POWWEB!

Just when I have finally turned WebStats off for good and gone solely to AWStats. Oh well, I still think AWStats is the better of the two. I just hope we continue to have access to our access_log file. Anyway, so long to WebStats on Comet. :p
