ftp01 keeps timing out

Trying to upload a site to ftp01.powweb.com - right in the middle of some operation or other, it will say:

Connecting ftp data socket 63.251.216.51:57916...
150 Accepted data connection
Timeout (60000 ms) occurred on receiving server response.

I'm only 7 out of 5000 users, when it goes it's quick, and the timeout can be at any point from login to pwd. Tried 2 ftp apps (smart and cute) also PASV and non.

I can see that the same clients and machines are working fine on my other site, so I'm guessing this must be a problem on the machine? I'd love to get this sorted soon as I only have today to work on it this week. Thanks

Powweb has a five minute "unactive" timeout.

ie: "try typing a little faster next time" server message lol

A little annoying, but saves resources.

but why would it lock up (keeping the session alive) and time out after that time, when the other server is behaving itself?
This isn't me being slow typing, this is a case of either:
connect...
user....(long delay then logout)

or

middle of transfering lots of files, ftp client "locks up", (I mean, client it active, just no data xferred) and then time out after a while.
