mysql

this is 2nd site i have and i set everything exept for database name of course just like the other and when i go to set it up i get this:
Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.3.0


Error

MySQL said:


Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
Any ideas y?

Make sure you have the MySQL server name correct - if you're copying config from another installation you may be on a different server...just a thought.

i think i know the problem but unsure how to fix it.

on my first site both website and mysql are on same server.

now they have my website on 1 server and mysql on a different server.

Did they mess up? or how do i set myphpadmin up with this setup?

you are on a different (new) architecture.

System 1 will have servers named such as comet.powweb.com, meteor.powweb.com etc these have ftp, mysql, and http on the same machine

System 2 will have a set up such as ftp01, ftp02; mysql01, mysql02; and www01, www02. These are set up to have more redundancy (better for us) and seperate machines.

If you have a set up with system 2 then the mysql** is going to be different than the www** and the FTP**

pownuke.com, bjerkefamily.com and drazan.com are on mysql 01.

drazan.info is on comet
drazan.us is on quasar
drazan.org is on Io
drazanfamily is on comet
drazan.biz is on meteor
cmdiecasttoys.com is on meteor
