Hi Everyone,
I'm having a problem with the quality of my images. I use Macromedia Fireworks MX to generate my images and I save them using "JPEG Better Quality". When I place the images on my page and preview it, the image is fine with excellent quality... When I upload them, they lose alot of their quality and look awful! Someone Please Help!!!
Thanks.
check your ftp settings, some programs (god only knows why) will auto compress your images, or convert them to JPG if they are BMP.
Are you doing anything to your images after you preview them, but before you upload them?
What ftp are you using?
Do you have a link?
I recall a few months ago on this forum we discussed a similar issue. As it turns out, most web browsers display images far more poorly than image-viewing programs.
When you're testing on the local machine, make sure you use your web browser to open the local copy of the image, and see how that compares to the original in your image editor.

If you use IE, go to the Tools/Internet Options.../Advanced dialog and look under the 'Multimedia' heading. There's an option for 'smart image dithering' - you might try toggling that to see if it helps.
My guess is that either the web page specifies the wrong height and width of the image (meaning that the browser will shrink or enlarge it), or that the image is wider than the browser page in MSIE which will shrink it by default (you can turn this off).
Do you have a URL we can look at to see?
