View Full Version : MySQL down on Meteor???
My phpbb is showing this error:
phpBB : Critical Error
Could not query config information
DEBUG MODE
SQL Error : 1226 User 'wsrl' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 36000)
SELECT * FROM phpbb_config
Line : 176
File : XXXX/htdocs/board/common.php
the board is located at:
http://www.wsrlracing.com/board/
(on Meteor)
The website is fine, so I know that the server is running. Is the phpbb error a PowWeb problem, or something that I need to address?

On my site on meteor the sql is running fine now.
SQL Error : 1226 User 'wsrl' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 36000)
While I am certanily not an expert on sql it looks to me that you have max out on querries for the hour. Looking at other posts I would keep looking at your site. It seems like on some of powweb servers the Sql is running fine except for a few sites on that server. When powweb rebooted, those sites has the sql problems were magically fixed

Thanks for the info, Tim.
After I posted the message, I checked the PowWeb board for "over use" messages, and I see that I'm not alone. :(
I don't see how my board could be a heavy user though. I have about 30 users and 5-10 posts per day. Don't know how we could have hit 3600 queries in an hour.
My board has been down since last night. Do I need to contact support to get it turned back on? Anyone?

I guess if it was me I would put in a support ticket.
I would include the url of you site, the server it is on and how long the site has been down. I would include the fact that it has been down constantly. And not due the fact of over use.

I have e-mailed tech support.

Welcome to the wonderful world of unexplained limitations imposed by Powweb. I've been trying to get some kind of proof of the number of queries my site has been doing for the past two days, with no success.

Login to OPS>mySQL create another DB user.
Open config.php file for phpBB board and change info to reflect new user, upload and see if your board will work.
Thanks for the info, Alpha.
But.... I'm having trouble creating a new DB user. I'm at the MySQL page of my domain in OPs. I entered a user name and password under "additional users", clicked "add", the screen refreshed but didn't show the additional user in the 'privilages' table.
Ideas?

hmmm...I just added one and it popped right under the first with the new info and then added another same thing. Now I have 3 with all the same name except the 123 thing... user1, user2, user3 with all the same pass.
Also uploaded the edited config.php with the new user and it's working.

Log out and log back in..try again.
I tried to add DB users again, and got the same result. :( I can enter the name and password fine, click "add", the page refreshes but doesn't show the new user listed. I don't get any errors or messages. I have tried using 'user1', 'user2', formatting with and without the same password as my existing user.
No joy.
Could the "exceeded the 'max_questions' " message on my board be impacting my ability to add a DB user in OPs?

Well....it being already maxed "may" be stopping you from adding the name. I really don't know why though since I'm pretty sure it has been more than an hour.
I see you have already kicked to support. Hopefully they will reset something.

Here's the reply I got from PowWeb support:
There is no troubleshooting that we can offer as a solution for your MySQL issue.
Here is a link that explains the max_questions issue:
http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?threadid=17462
Not exactly what I'd call helpful.
My DB has been inaccessable since Saturday before 10:00 PM PST, so yes.... it's certainly been more than an hour. :(

I don't think that is the problem as I am not maxed and I just tried to add a user and am getting the same problem as Paul is.
I just sent a support ticket in on this problem And mentioned that is was not just me with the problem
When a database is down for days at a time why is the user automaticallly blamed? Is it always a bad script, etc?

Paul
I saw this in another post maybe this will help
Try doing this. Go to your config.php file and change the mysql host to your server name, ie pulsar.powweb.com. By default it is set to localhost, but while either localhost or mydomain.com works, it seems that using them makes you break the limit.
On the problem with creating a user this is the response I got
I am able to recreate this issue.I am passing this on to the admins
Hope you get your site Up and rolling again
Tim
Thanks for the info, Tim.
Unfortunately the server setting in config.php was already pointed to meteor.powweb.com, so I couldn't change anything there. :(
Glad to hear that others are having the problem creating DB users. At least that will help the MySQL problem, once the techs get the 'add user' issue resolved.
I see that PowWeb granted me access to MySQL today. My board was only down for 40-44 hours. :(

I've escalated this to our admins and they should have this fixed later today This is the latest e-mail I got. They must still be working on it as I still can't create a another user
How about giving me the all the querries and connections for 3 user on the one user I have?
Tim
FYI: MySQL on meteor is running fine (and has been).
Check your configuration and make sure you are using the correct password for your mySQL users.

FYI: MySQL on meteor is running fine (and has been).
At the begining of the posts What was concluded was the the sql was running.
The Problem that the admin are trying to fix is the inability to create new user for our databases on meteor.powweb.
I still would like to have all the querries and connections on one user and not spread over 3.
Should I start a new thread about our inablity to add users to our databases?
Tim
If you have an email to support about this, you have no need for any post anything about your issue in this forum.
NOTE: If your email requires the attention of an admin or developer, it may be more then 24 hours for your reply.

I'm with nonner, well I don't think PowWeb's a dictatorship, but I do think that they could raise the limit.
