MySQL01 went down, but when it came back, my database was corrupted. A number of tables were emptied and a critical table - phpbb_users is corrupted. This table does not just hold information about users so they can use the forums - it also holds three years of information about members of my site as I run a huge and highly customised board that is integrated with a highly visited site.
The first thing you will say to me is that it is my responsiblity. Three Things:
1). I live in a part of the UK where the maximum internet connection youc an get is 56K and it costs 5p a minute. A 10MB download is a bout the max I can get. My database is between 50 and 100MB. Major Backups are out of the question.
2). I always back-up my tables if I am going to change them and I have backups of nearly every table except phpbb_users.
3). Any sensible host must surely back-up their users files even if it is not that regular. The phpbb_users table from two months ago would do.
4). If I cant get that table back - I will have to close my site, as it is useless without it and the information it had. Thats 3 years of work, 3 years of information from members, all because when eveyrone was moving to I-Power-Web - I stayed, because I believed that you would sort out issues, and you did - I was very please I stayed, but this is worst thing to happen, and I hope its just a simple error you can correct, otherwise - Powweb will force thousands of people to loose the favourite site.
Before you say its not your problem - A host should not be corrupting users files whilst they are on holiday. I havent been online for two days, its a very upsetting shock to see a corrupted database when you get back.
