View Full Version : cgi root?
I am trying to install a forum that is written in perl.
i just need to know what a root cgi is and a root html becouse i need to put things there and i dont know what they mean, im a cgi newbie :)
Hope you dont think I am haunting you. I just seem to be on the same time as you every night *S*
Your root folders are the 4 you would see when you FTP in to your website. They are cgi-bin, etc, htdocs, and logs.
It is a good idea to create subdirectories for your apps in the cgi-bin which is your root cgi directory.
htdocs is your root html directory.
In order for your forum to work right, the paths need to be written correctly. Most of the problems with installs have to do with improper CHMOD settings and paths written incorrectly. I wont bore you with the syntax. There are many threads just below this one that go over it.
If you hit a snag, come on back. good luck
wow, thanks for the speedy reply!
