View Full Version : Anyone having FormMail problems?
I posted this on the CGI section, and go no response. Posting here to get a larger audience.
All of my forms have stopped sending mail to the recipient. I do not get any error, and the recipient is to a PowWeb account - ME! The mail account works fine with regular email, just the FormMail has failed.
I contacted tech support, they said nothing has changed, have a nice day. A little frustrating to say the least.
Has anyone experienced any recent problems with the PowWeb FormMail (/powweb-bin/FormMail.pl), and if not, any suggestions?
Thanks!
Mark
Well, I just did a test send using my own private form mailer and it worked - so the problem isn't in the actual sending part (that is, sendmail).
I just created a very simple form to try it fresh. The URL is
www.sysmp.com/testform.html
If anyone wants to look at it and see if something jumps out, thanks. Oh, it doesn't work either.

You have an extra <form> tag before the real one.
You are correct. I was in a hurry to create a test form, and overlooked that.
I removed the first <form>, and still doesn't work.
However, I tried something else. I uploaded the FormMail.pl to my cgi directory, called it instead, and it worked.
This leads me to believe there is some problem with PowWeb's version.
So I will just use the one in my directory and move on. Thanks for the help, and maybe someday PowWeb will acknowledge the problem.

I just checked and all of the forms that I have (3 different sites) using PowWeb's FormMail.pl work fine.
I also did a test using PowWeb's version and I got the mail just fine. What's the URL of a page of yours that doesn't work? What happens when you click Submit - do you get to the acknowledgement page?
I have changed my site's forms to use my copy of FormMail. However, there is still the very simple test form that does not work that still uses PowWeb's.
It can be found at: http://www.sysmp.com/testform.html
No errors and it shows the generic acknowledgement page after you submit. But email never arrives.

Thank You For Filling Out This Form

formtext1: test
formbutton1: send
I just tryed it and it did that.
Yep, that is what I get also. However, the form contents never arrive in an email. However, just moving the FormMail.pl to my /cgi directory, and using that in the Post line, solves the problem.
Don't understand why, but at least that works.

Tech Support looked into it again for me, and they are puzzled also. Here is the latest reply:
"I'm not sure why that is happening, I will ask an administrator to check the scripts configuration but for now you should set your forms to use the script you uploaded to the server."
So, they said do what I've done, and not use their FormMail.pl for now.
Strange...........

Finally resolved - latest email from tech support:
"The path to sendmail in the built in formmailer was incorrect. These should be working now."
There you go...............
