View Full Version : review of www.rvpost.com
Hello,
Looking for input on our site. We did a bit of a work over on it. We tried to have it appear similar to a newspaper classified section.
Our goal was to be easy to use. Most RV'ers are over age 50.
We hope the site loads fairly fast,
Searches easily and
ADs are easy to read...
Thanks for suggestions....
Joe
If your demographic is a little bit of the older surfers why the tiny font ??? poor RV'ers.
Also.. I'd make your graphics clickable links as well.. get them running through your site. I always base the older demographics on my mother & grandfather.. they get int he habit of being able to click pictures to get more info on what the pic represents.. and then don't understand why it's not doing anything (if they'd just look at the link below the text....)
In your header.. nothing is 'clickable'. They either have to type in a search.. or use the drop down. Make it easy (yes.. it is redundant, but..), make those text items into links (ie: RV CLASSIFIED ADS * WEBS EASIEST TO USE RV ADS * BUY OR SELL AN RV TODAY!)
hmm.. until I actually viewed the ads.. I didn't know they could place wants. Maybe separate the 2 sections.. or advertise they can place 'wants' in the ad's as well?
On the drop down.. I'd suggest having Home at the top (always), with a separater line below it. Makes it easier. Maybe even a few separators: searches, notifications, dealers, etc - separator - ad placement/editing/removal - separator - about us/sitemap
All in all, I think you have good base going, but the navigation needs a bit more order - and the font size needs to be standard given your demographic (10pt w/fine print at 8pt or so).

Thanks for the input....
I had concerns with the font size....You just confirmed them.
We will change that..
I also appreciate the navigation suggestions.
Much appreciated.
Joe
It looks like you've been implementing some of Laurey's suggestions. The font size is good enough for this ol' blind geezer to read.
The one thing I notice, is that the top bar where you have:
MOTORHOMES * CLASS A * CLASS B * CLASS C * CAMPERS * FIFTH WHEEL * TRAILERS * POPUPS
is not a navbar. Many would expect that to be a navigation tool, so I would suggest making those into links or removing them. And like Laurey pointed out, for the older generation you can never be too redundant with your navigation. Just make sure they have a quick and easy way to get back to the starting point.
you HAVE been busy.. brownie points for you! Looking much better for your target demographic already.
Good job!

I very much appreciate the suggestions, I am currently working on a DHTML navigation menu that should tie in pages quite effectively.
The comments were right on target and I thank you all for taking the time.
I'll let you know when the new navigation menu is available.
Thanks,
Joe
