The newest place on the web for getting your questions answered. The site's been up for 3 days now and I've already answered 24 questions. Don't be the only person not on the bandwagon. ;)

Ask Sotik (http://www.sotik.com/ask/)

If you all could check it out and give me your input (and maybe submit a question or two on the site), I'd greatly appreciate it.

As I mentioned, I only have 24 questions currently. Very soon though I will have to find a way to organize them though...suggestions on that would be most welcome.

Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sotik

I think it is a great site. The layout is clean, the text is well written, and the whole concept is just fun. It's nice to see a good non-commercial site.

I hope that when you are successful and are getting tons of questions every day, that you can find some witty editors to help you answer them all. I can lend you my "Magic Eight Ball".

Nice job!

Hey Sotik,

Great idea! So much serious tech talk on the board. We all need to lighten it up every now an then. You are the online Miss Cleo !

You all are too kind; thanks.

I have 14 or 15 new questions today, so I think that's a good sign. Hopefully I'll have them answered and uploaded by Wednesday (the job thing kinda prevents me from playin around on the web full-time).

I also hope the site is successful. If you all haven't submitted a question yet, it'd be cool if you did. Tell people about the site too (hey, it's nothing spectacular yet, but isn't it cool when you know about a website before it gets huge...ish?) Any advice you might have would be cool too.

Lastly, if you have some spare time to kill, check out www.sotik.com - it's my main page and has links to a couple websites I'm working on (including my personal site). Comments here or by e-mail are most welcome.

Thanks all!

I loved your site, it was very entertaining and filled with some funny and good advice.
I especially like the baggy parachute question :)

Thank you. :D

I briefly considered going outside and trying the parachute one. :) I thought better of that though.

Hi Sotik,
I really enjoyed reading your site. Your approach is well balanced with sincerity and humor and is quite refreshing, the perfect combination of Miss Cleo and Jeeves.
You asked about organizing your questions. I’m sure your site will be successful and eventually you will have too many questions to manage easily. You might want to consider storing them in a database. This will make them much easier to categorize and manipulate. Then, when you have huge numbers of questions, you can use dynamic web pages to display, search and organize them.
Good luck with your site. I’ll try to drop in and ask a question from time to time.

Hi Sotik,

Great concept!! :) Just one question about it though. In your answer for the question "Why do men have nipples?" where did you get the info that a foetus's sex isnt determined until 14 weeks after conception?? I was pregnant a year and a half ago and they told me in all my classes that a baby's sex is determined at conception, when the sperm meets the egg, and the developing foetus gets half the mans and half the womans chromasomes. Its the mans chromosomes that determine what the sex will be, that one last X or Y..

Now, there is no way of actually SEEING the sex via ultrasound until about 14 weeks because its so small. Not that my son gave me half a chance. He would hide his genatalia any time the ultrasound thingy got anywhere near me. :p

Sorry, this has been bugging me for a couple of days lol

Thank you Kim and Sophie for the compliments. Much appreciated.

Sophie - Baby's sex is determined at conception by chromosones. However, up until the 14 week point males and females develop identically. After 14 weeks they begin to develop gender-sepecifically. That help clarify things? :)

Just a suggestion: put titles on your pages that identify them as part of Sotik's web site. If "Main Page" is saved as a bookmark that might not be clear to the user what site that was.

I'd have to agree. God only knows how many page's I've bookmarked and later on couldn't remember what the page referred to. Make the title something like Ask Sotik, and pages under it something like Ask Sotik - Sub Page .

Ok, took your advice while answering and uploading the most recent series of questions. The main page should show up as "Ask Sotik"...hopefully that works better (though I'm not sure if the site is bookmark-able yet).

Anyway, it's up to 74 questions already (more than I thought). Feel free to check it out when you have a few minutes...decent way to pass the time. Tell me what you think of the site, my answers, and - most importantly - submit your own questions! :)
