TERREL !!! !!! don't do it...save the third dimension :o
Best viewed at 1024x768. Mostly done in 2D using PSP and me. Later: I threw in some PSP lighting studio: effect/illumination/lights to achieve some transparency of the boat sails.

Those are some mighty big birds :p
Those are some mighty big birds
They are modeled after the Arabic Al-ghattAs Albatross. A kind of sea eagle that may weigh 22 lbs and have a 7 foot wind span. However, those items closest to the viewer/observer may appear larger than they are. They seem very large when held in front of one face.

No, no 3d rendering programs allowed. You can only use photos and plugins, not renderings from 3d programs. You may also draw whatever shapes, lines, or objects with in the programs listed.
** We'll do another 3D challenge after this one. Open to all programs.**

EDIT: clarify my answer.
I added a moon and changed the moons appearance to look more moony. I was going to submit some additional entries using some plug-ins/filters.
I'm back!
This was done with my favorite paint filter and PSP. No moon but it does have a tree:
http://www.the-ebiz.net/forum/skynwater.html
As near as I can tell the fantastic "paint engine" is still free:
http://www.fantasticmachines.com/html/paint_engine.htm
For those not familiar with paint machines I suggest you start with an image copy, paint the copy as you like, then use the original to layer back the level of detail you want.

You can show all your works, but you will have to chose only one "final" entry to be judged.
BHD,
lol! you know my "moon" & "water" can be viewed from an entirely different perspective. Which was not my intention for this contest. :p
=)
Jade
You can show all your works
Well, don't have the time or inclination but your rules just got modified.
:p
Talking about moons.........

Well you were posting quite a few there, weren't you. I didn't want the compitition to be overwhelmed with your great submissions.

Please judge the 1024x768 image (http://www.gmtachess.com/moon/moonwaterlarge.jpg)
Nice entry btw Jade Dragon. Me likes.
Mine was actually used as a print ad that I did for a company. I used the idea of the graphics challenge and actually designed an ad for a local ATV company to put on postcards that they sent out for advertisement. I changed the titles to protect the innocent and so I wouldn't get in trouble if my client seen this....:)
Mine isn't as elaborate as those I have seen posted. This is more geared toward advertisement for a magazine.
Anyways the entire picture, except the one image of the quad was generated from a couple of tutorials from some of the books that I have.

I have another one of some bacteria that came out pretty cool too.

satis that is excellent, if you used 3d i will start building a brycien wax efigy :D
:D Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments. I started tinkering in PSP, and next thing I knew 2 hours were gone. No 3d, though. I promise it's all 100% based on real pics. I can post the originals if need be. :) Well, the "originals" I ripped off google image search, but I swear they're all actual photographs. :p I still want that wax effigy though. hehe
Mine looks kinda flat comparatively:eek:
Combined my poster assignment with the challenge.
Concert Posterhttp://venturaartistsunion.org/soundproofsound.html
Just Photoshop, stock moon pic with my own digital of the shoreline.
Anyway, it took my mind off my doomed catalog project.:)

Can you spot the deliberate mistake?
:)
BHD
P.S. You've had ten days, TERRELL.........
;)
Well, I can't see any mistakes deliberate or otherwise.
All I see is a great piece of work that I could sit and look at all day :) It's the kind of piece that I feel is very calming and lets a persons mind wander off to far distant places.
My problem is that my mind wanders off and forgets to come back :D
Nice work Wyndra. I like it, and think it probably took more time and talent then mine probably did. :) How do you write on the sand like you did?
BHD, I like that too. Hmmm...is the "mistake" the fact there's no moon reflection?
Transform>Skew
I use it alot to "unskew" angled shots of paintings.
And my new favorite layer attribute>Stroke.
Glad I could play.:)
Maaaannnnnn,This entries look so good!!! I gotta get going with what I'm coming with...If I don't submit anything this contest..I'll make sure to be up & at em for the next one...I had a design going but I threw it away cuz I didn't like how it was looking....
On anonther note:
BHD,Your deliberate mistake came in where the rules said you were to use PS or PSP and no 3D rendering programs..You used Xara :p
Still looks good though....Agree with what Jack said..It sets a mood :)

Look at the ship's reflection, Jack. It's the original flipped top to bottom...........
Then I flipped it left to right, and shortened a couple of spars for devilment.
:)
My problem is that my mind wanders off and forgets to come back :D
I too tend to suffer from senile......er.........

Hahaha!
Love it Uno! :D I'd say that was a bit different!
Just a reminder I'll post a Judging thread soon. So any last minute entries? You have about 5.5 hours left to go. Contest ends midnight board time (PST).
=)
Jade
lol, pretty good Uno. :) We've got some people of talent on these boards. I think we should have these contests more often.
Just a little different angle of the rules, good to open my mind every once in a while i guess:D
