My WS-FTP file got corrupted so I reloaded it.
Now I can't log in.
I get an error message saying
pass (hidden)
530 authentication failed, sorry
logon failure so quitting

I am not sure what my server name is or if my password is different than the one I use to access my member operations page.
Can anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong?
:(

I found out that my server name is pulsar so I am not sure what is stopping me from logging in.
Maybe I have a different password.
How can I find out what my password is?

You may want to double check your FTP login information:

- Log in to https://ops.powweb.com/

- Click on the "Packages" tab

- Click the "FTP" link

I did that and it tells me my host name i.e. pulsar.powweb.com and my user name walbar but the password is hidden.
Even if I wanted to change the password I have to know the old one first.
I am stuck and can't update my website.
I sent an email to tech support but haven't heard back from them yet.
Possibly because it is a weekend?

The password should be the same as OPS unless you changed it.

Otherwise create a new ftp user.
Then you can update the website with no problems.

If you only have 1 domain in your package, try using the username and password for your main email account.

That's the problem.
I tried using the ops password and it is not accepted.
I am able to sign in to ops ok with my user name and password.
I am also able to sign in to the forum with my forum user name and password. (same password)
But I can't access the site with that password. That's why I am so confused.
I don't normally use a different password for Powweb.

If you can log into OPS you can create a new FTP user.
Using the same password for OPS/MYSQL/FTP is very unwise.

Most scripts are not very aware of security concerns.

As suggested, I went to my ops page and loaded a new ftp user with entirely different name and password.

When I try to connect with WS-FTP I get the same error message.

Here's what I am entering in WS-FTP

profile name....(my new profile name)
host name/address pulsar.powweb.com
host type automatic detect
user id (my new id)
password (my new id)

The result is a 530 authentication error, logon failure

This is getting exasperating!

Why don't you PM me the user/password and I will try an login to your FTP account.

Are you behind a Firewall or something that may be blocking FTp access?

Also... so ya know.... when you create a new FTP account, or change an FTP password, it can take up to an hour for the change to be reflected system-wide.

Meaning... changes are not INSTANT. They're done in batches. :)
