i am playing around with a scene, well just starting it, that will be a still life- a table, maybe a book and a candle and perhaps some vases.
I wanted a good pocket watch and i am determined to make all my own models so i made one in Bryce. Now remember this is only the second model i have made ( the candle from a tutorial was the first) and i am not quite there yet. The winder at the top needs a lot of work and i have yet to make a chain.
Whilst playing with this i deleted the ground plane and when i recreated it it acquired a random texture and i think it is really cool, so i angled down and avoided the sky to show it
oh sorry here it is :

the watch is made from 2 flattened spheres booleaned to create the back of the watch, this group is duplicated and given a glass texture for the front. sandwiched in the middle is a 2d circle with a bitmap texture of a watch face
The winder, which is by no means finished, is simply a sphere and a cylinder
took about 2 hours to make, very much trial and error
The result is, in my humble opinion , good enough to warrant some more work and i hope to have a complete scene finished by the end of the month
Me likes.Good job Paul!!!
jeez, good work man. When I first viewed the image, my initial reaction was "holy crap" (mildly stronger). Ask my cat. But anyway, looks real nice. I fear I'll need to warm up my Bryce again and give you some competition. :P Keep it up.
SUPER Job Paul :)
Almost makes me want to reach out and set the time.

wow thanks, but it really isn't that difficult, a bit fidly getting everything to line up
well i was going to do a standard old table and book image then i had a relapse and couldn't stop myself from throwing a terrain and some leaves in :p
I have made the winding mechanism on the watch a bit more realistic, spheres and cylinders and i added a terrain with an image of leaves as a heightfiekd and the same image as a material. I like the 3d effect, in fact i thought i would see how far i could push it and added a bowl, ( two booleaned spheres) i think you will like the effect
the candle is from my previous work only this time i worked on the waxflow a bit in photoshop
before i let you see it i must add there is no intentional deep meaning, the time on the clock is arbitary, though if you were to plot a tangent from the hour hand to ......

yea, the winding mechanism looks alot better. Good job. I think you have a finished watch now. :) Candle looks good to. I'm not so sure about the bowl texture, but I guess everyone likes their own patterns. heheh. Nice work Paul, though I think you may want to look into your leaf addiction.

ah... sinsyble worrds BHD:D
getting the dimensions right is always hard to crack
But i like the leaves, you could almost feel the wind blow, perhaps a little puff ?
a black version would be full of roaches  and maybe a bit rocky ;)

Paul,
Your code is not the most subtle I have ever seen, and we don't know just who may be reading this...........
Might I suggest all further correspondence on his matter be carried out via THIS (http://homepages.tesco.net/~andycarlson/enigma/enigma_j.html) gadget.

It doesn't decode by the look of things; so I've sent your post to Bletchley Park.
Will reply whenever I get a response from them.
Over and out.............
