View Full Version : Challenges and votes

The new challenges are gaining some momentum, and that is good to see.

As far as the voting is concerned, I choose not to vote, nor pass comment on the submissions because of the (albeit small) chance of causing any measure of ill feeling.

Any potential new 'contestant' may feel slightly intimidated by the present system, and choose not to forward their work.

As the premise of any forum is to keep it 'buzzing' and try to increase the interest and thereby the membership, I propose the following:

All submissions be forwarded to one person (Jade?) who would allocate a number/letter to each one, and post them without comment, on some available webspace.

Voting would be on a 'Poll' system with no-one knowing who the 'artist' is - They would vote for their choice on the allocated submission number/letter.

When voting is over, the name of the winner would be revealed.

Just a thought......

agreed. I chose not to vote because I hate passing judgement on people. Judging nameless, faceless pictures is a whole different matter. :)

I find it interesting that there were 699 viewers of the "Graphic Challenge" thread. And I know this forum has the facility to present an opinion poll, perhaps limited to four entries but that probably can be expanded as an exception or special access, that would enable a democratic vote but in the wisdom of the "challenge sponsors" we revered to the old rule of one man 699 votes, a joke. Will there be 699 interested viewer in the next challenge. Why should there any interest at all other than the selling of Bryce by that well formed clique. So once again I agree with BGH and other like minded posters. Don't get the voters out. Let the voters in.

And I think chocolate in my peanut butter is just fine. I call it a Reese's sandwich.

Sounds good to me!

I'll set up a webspace for the challenges (& I'll use Gallery).
I'll post polls for Voting.

any other suggestions? what if the person wants their name tagged to their images?

=)

Then it would defeat the objective of having anonymous entries......

So far the consesus of opinion is in favour of the idea; so I suppose if you make that a parameter of the competition, that is what people will have to live with.

:)

The basic concept is to encourage more people to enter who may not have had the confidence to enter previously.

There's a host of Perl and PHP poll scripts that could circumnavigate that problem, and could be incorporated into the competition site.........

Click here to vote at the bottom of each submission takes you to the poll page.

If 'Gallery' can't handle that, it's not the end of the world, just a page for each entry would be simple enough.

Well, so far you've felt free to call me a raciest and now a plonker. I assume, though I have not as much as a beer in 8 years, a plonker is the U.S. equivalent of a boozer. Is there no limited to the drabness of your Palestinian perceptions. You act as being a Bryce cliquest and a bore are not admirable.

I'm admirable, damnit. I'm not a cliquest, Bryce is just the only 3d program I'm any good with. :(

I'm sorry to have to be the one to break the bad news........

"Plonker" is a euphemism which is regularly used in the East London area.

It is a term which is used towards someone for whom you have the greatest respect; and it can also be used as a term of endearment.

And if you believe that..........

Why burden Jade with this ?
You think she doesn't have enough to do ?

This is a public forum, for the people by the people. I don't care if your picture is crap if you are proud of it I'll check it out anyway. If you're to embarresed to put your picture up on your own web space then it probably is crap don't waste Jades space either. If you think you're magnanamous vote will offend someone then don't vote. If you're offended because someone didn't vote for your picture get over yourself go back to kindergarten or go tell your mummy. Fair Dinkum, welcome to the real world boys and girls.

wassocks: Westcountry slang for idiot/fool/****head, pronounced 'wazzocks', or almost any other deleterious meaning you might assign. Definitely not a term of endearment and obviously an attempt to find a moral equivalency. So what's the score here. So far it's racist, plonker, and wassock but all with a happy face.

And in the land of twonk there appears to be many directions and it is many things to many people but I did find a twonk compass. It will always aid in the direction you are going and from whence you came or did not the same.
